Coolant temp n52

I've been monitoring my coolant temp which was hoovering around the 70s so I cleaned the plug out which was full of crud and now it hoovers around 80. While at idle it will go mid 90s then back down to high 70s is this normal for these engines. While driving it hoovers around 78 to 81

Its a 2007 325i auto

It does also have the 2e84 communication fault code but no over heat or low temp fault codes

Check out page 67 of this N52 tech doc, it explains a bit about how much the temp on these varies.

The reason your car doesn't have a water temp gauge OP, is because the intelligent electric pump means the temperature is constantly in a state of flux and BMW knew this would have owners forming a queue at their BMW delarships if they knew...

OK and regarding the communication fault code? This is the pump on its way out?

So standard driving my temp should be around 100 yet it only runs at 70. Something is definitely wrong
