Loud radiator fan and minimal airflow with a lack of heat from vents
This morning on my daily commute (30 mi) my radiator fan started running incredibly loud, and my heater was no longer blowing warm air. There is airflow from the vents, but it is very weak and has very minimal warmth. From the research I've done so far, it seems like the problem might be the blower motor, however I am not sure if that ties into the radiator fan noise. The car is a '08 328xi , with around 160k on it. I bought the car about 2 years ago, and since I bought it there has been a squeaking noise from the vents while the engine has been running at certain speeds. This squeaking noise disappeared about the same time the vents quit and the radiator started running loud. I inspected the radiator fan, and didn't see anything visible that would be causing the noise. It sounds as though it is running a lot faster and higher than normal. At this point in time I plan to pull the blower and test it. If anyone else has had a similar issue, what ended up being the cause?
*Update* On the drive home the temperature warning came on, then immediately went from yellow to red after turning on, the car went into limp mode and was overheating. This now seems like it may be a water pump issue, has anyone else had this happen? Thanks! -Zac Last edited by zchilds033; 01-31-2024 at 06:08 PM.. Reason: New information |
