What other parts to buy with Coilovers
New to the forum and spent the past couple hours doing google deepdives.
I am looking to upgrade my suspension on my 325i (167k miles) since I need to do control arms and leaking in my front suspension. I am looking at purchasing B14 PSS9 Coils and 10 piece control arm kit (lemforder). Wondering what other parts I should buy with my coils since this is my first time getting this done. Should I also purchase shock and strut mount kits? Thanks in advance! |

Rears:
If you are not on run flats I would replace the rear shock mounts with Monroe 907984. You can get them at NAPA also. These are rubber compared to the crappy foams and are $40 for the set. Check the subframe and diff bushings for play. Replace those considering the mileage and the condition. You don't want to have a sloppy rear end with brand-new coil overs. Fronts: I would invest in front camber plates considering the geometry will be changed from lowering. Replace the front sway bar bushing. Driveshaft: Check the guibo/flex disc for play and replace that. Last thing is alignment unless I missed something. |

^ agreed except no need for camber plates. You'll gain a small amount of negative camber by lowering which is what people are looking to achieve anyway with camber plates 99% of the time. It will be minimal and you can still get in spec unless your car is funky. More neg camber is a good thing.

Much appreciated for the replies! I’ll definitely look into the extra items you both mentioned. I just wanted to make sure I had everything so I wasn’t waiting with my car apart haha

I've found this information rather hard to track down.
For inspiration, reference the following: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...1306775098kt3/ And https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...1126768989kt4/ (Make sure you select the kit for your vehicle) Look through the kit contents, use realoem.com as an additional resource, and piece together what you think you'll need for your circumstances. Once you've figured it out, post up what you went with so others in your (our!) situation can benefit! |

I agree with the above comments. Keep in mind replacing the subframe and diff bushings is no cake walk. If you think it is you're crazy.
