e92 rear speaker mounting depth?

I am looking for the rear speaker mounting depth for an e92. I believe it is a 4" mid and 1 inch tweeter (the same as the front) but what is the mounting depth?

Also, does anyone know how to remove the panels to access the rear speakers?

Thanks in advance.

I hope they're the same depth as the front because I just ordered 2 pairs of Infinity Kappa 42.9i w/ shipping for $150. Or else I'm screwed

Any idea how to remove the panel? I couldn't find anything in the DIY section.

I'd gladly measure it for the both of us.

What are you running in the front?

Take pics of the install!

I'm excited for you. I hate the OEM speakers.

That looks like for the door panel, any info for the rear ones?
Also, I don't know how good Kappa is, but seeing it as a 2 way, I'm interested to know what's your plan on the original tweeter, are you gonna remove it or just leave it in?

It's the rear. The front doesn't have that tweeter. And you can also see the hole where the seat belt arm thing is.

I think I'll try and take it apart today. I'm gonna pop out the speaker grill and see if there's just screws holding the speaker in.

Front fronts are easy, as long as your speakers have a shallow mounting depth. I had problems mounting my MB Quart RVF 210's. The magnet kept hitting the window because it was too deep. Ended up taking them out

Ahh, I see, my bad, you guys are talking about E92, I mistaken it for E90 rear dash, no wonder it looks nothing like what I have. I guess I didn't read the 1st post careful enough!!!

you probably can. a speaker is a speaker. the only difference between the OEM and Kappa's are the connector. the stock tweeter connects with a 2-pin connector. just snip it off

No no, don't get me wrong, you can definitely connect the Kappa, but seeing it as a 2-way (non-component, I could be wrong), that means you have extra tweeter on each side, 1 being the original one, the other is the one sits on top of the Kappa's main cone. I just thought maybe there'll be too much highs.
Also, with a non-component 2-way, it seems to be a little higher due to the build-in tweeter, wondering if the original speaker grill will fit.
I am also looking for 4" speaker to replace, please post how your install goes.

i'll compare the sound with oem tweeters wire/and not wire to the kappa to see which one i prefer.

Synergy, any update on getting them fit? Did you find a way to get to the rear speakers?
I removed the front panel a few days ago but couldnt mount the Kappa on because of different mounting points. Im cutting a template for it and hopefully have time to put it on this weekend

Funny you ask, I ran into the same problem getting my speakers to fit too. My Focals have 4 screw holes, where the door panel has 3. I'm trying to modify a bracket today to get it to fit.

I can't get the rear panel to come off. I don't know what the fuck I am doing wrong, or my car is just stubborn as hell. I removed the rear bottom seat, took off the trim and unscrewed the 2 screws holding the side panel to the car, but I can't pull the damn thing off. Looks like the entire rear seat has to be removed as well? I am not sure.

Where in CA are you?
