Front seat swap 335I E92

Does anyone know if you can swap out the normal sport seats for the BMW M3 seat in an E92 ? please let me know also if there is anyone out there who has the light cream color M3 seats for sale let me know, I may be interested if the seats match and bolt up, I currently have an E92 335I coupe Xdrive sport seats with memory, I would be very interested in getting M3 seats that match the color. Name is Frank here

Should be an easy swap. You'll have to code them but beyond that they're a plug n play.

What if you don't have side bolsters on your current seats?

I went from non sport seats (like yours) to full m3 interior. Everything worked perfect for me.

Another thing to remember is that since you have 2009, more than likely you have AHR

You would need to get M3 seats from 2009+ car also with AHR for them to be PnP.

If the seats you get do not have AHR you will need to code them out for no constant error on dash...

From experience if the seats are the exact same built year as the car then its all plug and play. Just recently I bought a newer set of 07 sports seats from a 335 for my 07 328, just plug and play no problems. But previously I had a set of 330i 06 sport seats and the side bolster and lumbar were not working. From my research, depending on the year compatibility, the harness's wiring may be different, therefore some altercations may be needed in order to have all the functions to work. For my previous seats I didn't fix the issue as I was able to adjust the seats.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I too am in the middle of the seat swap.

I have an E93 '08 335i that I was planning on putting seats from a '11 E93 M3 donor. The issue I see right away is the M3 seats have an extra yellow plug that my seats do not have.

The first pic is the connection from the 335i sports seats and the second pic is from the seats I want to use from the M3.

I hope someone can clear this up for me. My guess would be the M3 seats have Active Headrests and that yellow connection is the plug.

A yellow plug like that is usually always something air bag related. And from a 2011 M3 it deff has the seat air bag.

So do all the connectors match/plug in and your left with just the yellow connector from the seat unplugged? Does everything on the seat work properly?

Since your car is older it should be fine..

Yea 2006's had some different wiring, prob because it was 325/330's only for that year. 2007 and newer went to 328/335..

I haven't done the swap yet while I try and figure out what the connector is for. My seats currently have side airbag so that's not it, I am leaning towards it being Active Headrests which I think can get coded off if a warning light is triggered.

The 2 gray connectors in your current yellow plug are for the seat air bag and the seat belt pre-tension. The new yellow connector most probably is the active head rest.

I am just about ready to do the swap now. My car is pre LCI and does not have active headrest option. Since the donor seats do have active headrests will this trigger the SRS light once installed or will it just ignore them?

You should be fine. Going to non-AHR in an AHR equipped car would create an issue.

A bit of a thread revival here but......can anyone confirm that the rear seats from an E92 M3 will fit in a non M car? I have seen a full M3 interior (full electric and heated) which I'd like to swap for my Sport interior.

Hey guys not to bring back a dead thread, but I've got a 2011 328Xi coupe and I've found a complete M3 interior from a 2008 coupe locally. I think this means I would have the AHR issue. I watched the video about transferring the old 2011 AHR innards to the older seats but there still seems to be an "occupant present" warning (9400 I think). Has anyone figured out how to successfully complete the non-AHR M3 seats to AHR 328Xi seat transplant?

Also, how would I "code it out" and would doing that defeat the airbags?

Thanks!

Code out the headrests. Have to do that with any Pre-LCI > LCI swap. Coding them out will not affect the function of the airbags.
