Man its good to see some high mileage n54's. I bought my e91 with the intention of swapping a 6MT and a massaged n54 at the same time down the road.

Me too. But don't you seriously appreciate how well it drives, since you don't drive it every day? That's how I feel about mine.

I'm a dang cheater. I skipped the brake fluid flush and reset the CBS so when the dealer did the PA State inspection, they wouldn't tell me I needed it done. Because it sits in the garage and only went about 2,000 miles since I flushed in in 2016. I'll get to it this spring, though....I really would drive it a lot more, but it's a real PITA because we have a single car garage and I have to rearrange everything to get her out...

btw my mileage is 54k as of last week...

Single garage here too but to rearrange for me isn’t too much of a hassle. Wow only 54k miles? I’m jelly.

No longer an E91 owner but now an N54 owner (2010 E61). Not high mileage at all either. It’s currently at 81,250 (just under 130,000km). Stock everything. I am in the process of getting it up to snuff with what I think is proper maintenance. Had the intakes cleaned (they were dirty) replace dthe original water pump and thermostat, plugs and coils, OFHG, oil cooler gasket, all new pulleys, tensioners and belt, and filters. Still have the diff, transfer case and transmission to service (including mechatronic seals) and even though the VC gasket was done I think i’m going to replace the whole thing for peace of mind in the spring as well as new vanos solenoids. HPFP was done a ways back won warranty and so were the injectors. They are Index 11 with about 60k km on them so leave them in for now. I don’t mind doing the work as it’s the thing I do and spend money on really. Looking forward to putting on many more miles.

159k miles. Full bolt on, running 19lbs on original, stock turbos.

Just finished up another weekend track event. Drove the car 2.5 hours to the track, did six 20 minute sessions on Saturday and 4 20 minute sessions on Sunday. Drove 2.5 hours back home. Not a single hiccup along the way.

150K on currently FBO Flexfuel E85 MHD on 135i. Love this car as much as the day I bought it.

142K on 335xi with index 1 injectors. Just did a full cooling/turbo/all oil seal refresh on it, and ready for another snow season.

Wow, I'm impressed. Any secrets or just maintenance?

I always try my best to allow the engine to idle and run for a few minutes after some spirited driving before turning off. Let the turbos cool down a bit, that's helped me keep the stock turbos longer I would say.

I'm definitely on top of any maintenance issue that show any signs and I keep up with scheduled things.

I let it cool but I also always let the RPMs drop to their idle (around 650) on startup anytime the engine isn't up to operating temps. Passengers find it annoying and friends say I'm crazy (and maybe I am). Maybe it's not helping and it's all just dumb luck but I'd rather be safe.

Also, my wastegates do rattle like crazy. Sounds like I'm dragging pop cans under the car. But I've never gotten a boost code nor hit limp mode. I keep waiting for the day to come because I'd love to upgrade the turbos to be honest - but that's the one thing I'm not going to do preemptively because I'm so curious on how long they'll make it.

07' 335i with 100k miles on it

Have any of you guys with 200k+ miles on your N54's ever sent an oil sample to Blackstone Labs? And/or done a compression test to see how well the rings and valves are sealing?

Just curious. I hope my N54 keeps running good for a long time....I'm more worried about the stupid ZF 6HP21 6 speed auto transmission 😟

I've sent mine to blackstone a couple times, but last time was back around like 150k or 175k. Both times they said my readings were great. I should send it again next oil change.

I have the sheets posted on here, but I can't remember which thread they are on.

EDIT: Here it is, was at 181k
