Swapping seats won't be possible. Seat bases are side specific and the seat belt buckle can't transfer sides.
I would try to find another set of seats or just the leather skins. Swapping upholstery isn't terribly difficult. Just need some hog ring pliers, a good pair of dykes, and hog rings which you could source from your local dealer. |

So if someone was to ask you to do this for them, how much would you charge?

Rear seats are now back in place Nice to have a quiet car again.
In a month or so I will give them a final buff. Last edited by scanspeak; 03-30-2016 at 02:05 AM.. |

At this stage I'm still considering whether to redye the front seats or spend the extra cash and get them upholstered.
The driver's seat foam is a little worn so I could get that attended to and then there's also the logistics of doing the work while still using the car. On the other hand, would new leather match the color and texture of the original? The driver's seat would have to be done in stages spread over several weeks and then after that it would have to be treated very carefully during the first couple of weeks. Haven't made up my mind yet - I'm shopping around for quotes. |

If the cheap old SE seat is much cheaper, fit that and take time to color change your own. |

A friend and I are seriously considering following this thread as a tutorial on his E46, and if going well, on my E46 M3 (once purchased).

Well it's not bad but I just don't understand why you put so much effort into this when there was a much easier solution right here:
https://www.amazon.com/IMQOQ-Genuine...+wool+red+wine 😂 Just awesome stuff there, had no idea this could even be done, and you're giving a masterclass in the process. Pure OEM wowmatic option 4EVA Jealousy Module retrofit. |

So after a few months break over winter it's time to complete this project.
Found a used centre armrest already in the right color so it was a simple replacement. Last edited by scanspeak; 10-01-2016 at 06:10 AM.. |

Removing the passenger seat (this car is RHD) is literally a 5 minute job, 4 screws + 1 connector.
After sanding and prepwash First coat 5 coats Note that the only trim removed was the back panel, reclining lever surround and headrest socket surround. Tape was avoided as much as possible - just a steady hand and a small paint brush is needed. Last edited by scanspeak; 10-01-2016 at 06:13 AM.. |

I've got 10 days off work in 3 weeks time and that's when I plan to tackle the driver's seat. That will give me 2-3 days to do the dyeing and 7 days to cure.
To be safe I will probably cover it with some soft fleece when driving for the first 2-3 weeks while it fully cures. |
