Did dealership remove my Dinan

I brought my car to dealership because of the flimsy seatbelt arm. They stated there was a recall and needed to do a reprogram for the CAS. I asked if this would affect the Dinan. The SA said no. When I pocked up the car all my memory seats, radio stations etc were gone. I'm not sure if it's my imagination because I was worried about it but the car just doesn't feel same. Is it possible the reprogram undid the Dinan Stage 1? I'm def going to call first thing Tom am but just curious

Thanks

I knew it, that's bs. Now I have to drive all the way out to habberstad BMW (I think they only one that does it) Do I even have the right to argue? Dinan is covered so not like I had a JB in there or something. So mad cuz I specifically asked her

How Did Dinan know for sure you had it? Is it still on computer? Will they do it for free?

What is there to argue? In order to perform the recall they had to reprogram the car, any software that was flashed would be lost. Dinan is their own company, not related to BMW, therefore you can't really complain to the dealer who did it.

Agreed but I should have been notified so I could coordinate with a Dinan dealer. Now what? I'm just out $1500?

I think you get free flashes anytime u need to reflash in these instances. It doesn't cost the shop flashing your car anything to do it.

just ask a dinan authorized dealership to upload the flash again

It is stored based on VIN number. They will ask you to update your ownership info. Atleast, they SHOULD.

Nope, as others have said it's stored based on VIN. Just find a Dinan dealer and they'll take care of it I'm sure. It's an inconvenience, but there's nothing the dealer can do to save your flash if they're doing the update.

What was the recall for? They didn't update your ECU because of the seat belt arm fix.

Stated it was a recall for the CAS which apparently deals with the key fob and push button start. Some cars were experiencing long cranks at startup. I didn't have this problem but because it was a recall it was mandatory that they do that

Firstly, thanks to all who helped with the info above, much appreciated.

New question from this whole situation:
Local authorized Dinan shop wants 129 to reflash the car. Not a huge expense but being my car is a 2007 and the warranty is up in June of this year (2011) is it worth putting it back on? Wont i have to have it removed to get a extended warranty? And then again if there are any issues before i bring car back to dealer for service (under extended warranty).
Is it true after market products like JB and Vishnu can be removed before getting to the dealer and leave no trace so there is no harm done to the extended warranty?
Thanks in advance, sort of a noob when it comes to the chips/flashes.
