We are really blessed to have someone like your knowledge here on this Australian section, why dont you post these logs you must obviously have? And dyno sheets with and without intakes, cos you say it makes power?
My mate tested his hybrid turbo setup on the dyno, and removed the airbox cover and made no additional power, i'm sure he was full of shit so would be good to see your data instead.

On the debate over which is the best between the OEM air box and DCI, my personal experience supports that the DCI doesn't make any difference if you modify your OEM air box. That is, replace the OEM panel filter with a K&N panel filter and in my case add another pod filter. One big difference between the two is the DCI is open to the hot air from the engine bay while the OEM air box is not. As we all know, the cooler the intake air, the more power the engine produces. I have both and have run both at the drags. At the Test N Tune on the 3rd Oct, I replaced the OEM air box with the DCI to see if it made any difference. The timesheets below show the comparison between a run on the 15 Aug using the OEM air box and a run on the 3rd Oct. In both runs the 60' times are identical but the time with the DCI is slower and the speed 1.6mph faster.
Below are photos of both intakes. Below are the datalogs for each of those runs. 15 August https://datazap.me/u/coupes44/datalo...92&tmax=246.88 3 October https://datazap.me/u/coupes44/datalo...57&tmax=642.86 Last edited by Coupes33; 10-13-2018 at 06:05 PM.. |

Looks to be the same WGDC on both, around 76% wgdc @ 6550rpm in the top of 3rd gear. WeekendWarriorz this data is obviously wrong right?! You're clearly an expert on these cars whats going on here?

Personally, I don't believe there is much between the DCI and OEM air box fitted with a K&N panel filter which is much cheaper than a DCI. There are so many variables between each run at the strip, the 1.6mph is meaningless. I did a run in May 2018 which was a 11.056s @ 129.77mph with the OEM air box. My highest speed using the OEM air box is 132.71mph. I was after a tenth better time and gave the DCI a run to see if it made any difference but it went slower. But as I said there are many variables. The only way to see if there was any difference would be to place the car on a dyno and do 2 runs then change the air intake and do another 2 runs and compare the results. In that way, the variables would be reduced to the different air intakes.

Then you have haters saying the car was heat soaked.
No way to win this battle. You want noise go DCI otherwise stock airbox. Want more power? crank up the boost |
