Where do you guys get your parts?!
Hi guys new member here
I'm taking delivery of a 2009 e92 335i m-sport (sapphire black, 6 speed manual) in a couple of days and I plan on modifying it of course. I've already ordered a JB4 with USB off eBay which came to around $600 with shipping. The problem is I want to get more but I'd rather go to a shop or order from a company in Australia but I don't know where to look! My parts wish list is as follows Catless downpipes (are these even legal?) Black kidney grille Xenon angel eye upgrade (the only place I see as decent is in America and they require you to remove your headlights and send the units overseas to them!) 18 inch wheels and tyres with spacers Front mount intercooler (where I don't have to trim the bodywork) Carbon rear diffuser to fit the m-sport kit Lip spoiler on the boot Cold air induction (not looking for pods that suck in hot engine bay air, actual cold air routing to the pods) Charge pipe to replace the plastic crackable one Lowering springs and camber kit front and rear Oil catch can to trap the crankcase vapours to avoid carbon build up LED light conversion for boot, glove box, doors and footwells Where do you guys get your parts |

+1 to both these sources. Do some price comparisons to determine which is best for the parts you need. Local sources can actually be competitive for more things than you might think; sometimes US is a no brainer. Don't forget to factor in shipping from the US and also any duties/GST if your order is >$1K.

I always go to Stu @ BMR Autowerkes first, excellent service and competitive pricing.
I needed a new water pump over the Christmas break when BMR was closed. Stu express posted the parts to me the next day even though he was on holiday... I recently purchased DPs from him too which need a modification to fit RHD cars. Stu had these modified before he posted to me to save me $$$. The workshop that fitted them said that the relocation of the bung was spot on saving me ~1 hour labour charges. |

I will! I get the car most likely Tuesday (it's all paid for but has to be trucked from Sydney) but I'll take some pics when I get hold of it. I already bought a jb4 even before I got the thing so I'm definitely keen

Well the workshop also said they would relocate the bung if it wasn't done before hand, maybe it just makes fitting them much easier?
I don't think catless is legal on public roads, BMR site also says "*For off-road and race use only". |

Catless DP are not legal on public road.
So there is a chance you will get caught and be slap with a defect notice.

It is not illegal to run catless downpipes as far as I know with the latest light vehicle modifications laws. It is illegal to fail the emissions testing and sound limits. If you can somehow remove the cats AND still pass emissions/sounds tests then it doesn't matter what you do to your exhaust system.

Thanks guys for your help! This weekends purchases included
LUX angel eyes Gloss black kidney grille LED boot light LED license plate light And the JB4 is shipped and on its way. I'll have to research catless downpipes a bit more and make sure it's legal. I don't want to void my insurance and I'm also in defence so I can't be breaking the law. One last thing... I probably should have checked to see if there's a forum discount offered before purchasing off BMR Autowerkes but maybe I can contact them through the forum and get a little refund? |

Sydney base! Stu @ BMR Autowerkes most definitely, was my first pit stop for all my modifications. Would not go anywhere else.

EDIT: Found this for you. "Emission standards for new vehicles are set by Australian Design Rules (ADR) under the Motor Vehicle Standards Act. The standards require that motor vehicles manufactured after 1986 must operate on unleaded fuel and have anti-pollution devices (catalytic converters) fitted. These initiatives have contributed to a reduction in lead levels and other pollutants in our air." Last edited by kOncept; 03-31-2014 at 12:34 AM.. |
