Heat shielding ST N54
In the middle of a ST install. Am concerned about excessively heat, especially around the wiring under the engine cover near where the ST is. Has anyone dealt with heat shielding the engine bay on their ST install. If so would you share what you did and what materials you used? Seems like there are lots of foils and matting on the market, but guess most of it is rubbish. Any advice on what works best would be much appreciated

I am at the beginning stages of transitioning to a top mount ST setup, as well. Kit is on order and currently gather other odds and ends. Happy to share a few heat related items on my parts list.
Heat wrap: http://www.topbestproductreviews.com...wraps-reviews/ I'm going with the DEI: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER Heat Shield: DEI Gold tape: https://www.amazon.com/010397-Reflec.../dp/B0039Z1V1K Video demonstration: I'm planning to wrap/tape the ignition and injector wires with this under the engine cover and place a few strips on the cover itself closest to the turbo. I'm also planning to have the turbine housing ceramic coated, along with using a turbo blanket. In addition to the wrap on the manifold, downpipe, and wastegate dumps, I was thinking about having them ceramic coated too. I've read on other platforms (DSM, LS, etc) this works well. |

Look at a picture of a bay with the oem turbos out. You'll be able to see what needs shielding/sheathing pro tip: Many times, advance auto has the best prices after you put some codes in (search). Sometimes Amazon won out, but between those 2 you get the best price out of everywhere else. |
