Did you name your car?

Apologies if there’s already a thread for this, but I scrolled back 20 pages and saw nothing, and search was unhelpful.

My new F32 is Katarina. She’s German, beautiful and athletic, so that’s the first thing that popped in my head.

My Lincoln is Christine. Something about that name, I always felt like a Christine is that elegant girl who's decently pretty as well. Kinda the woman you'd get married with.

The BMW back home is named... the lease. I can't connect with that car maybe because I drive it 4 months a year tops and in my opinion there's nothing special so I just never thought of coming up with a name for it, it's just a vehicle. Sad and ironic to many to hear that a BMW is the unnamed one but if your girl was on 6000mi away and you could see her only 4 months in a year, how long would it be before you crack?

My very first car, a red Chevy Beretta GT was Christine.

I was a big Steven King fan and even though not a possessed Plymouth Fury, she was red, so there you have it.

I'm not a Steven King fan necessarily but odd coincidence that both our first cars were Christine!

My E39 got named by my Grandpa, from whom I inherited the car. "Hänsje" he always called it, and I for sure continued doing the same. It's a minimization of the German name Hans, nobody in our family knows, why he had chosen this particular one.

Why are ships called "she" whether their names are female or not?

It's just a tradition.

You'll find it triple at aircrafts: The aircraft (it), the Airbus A350 (she), the Jet (he).

The 335i is named ‘Steve’ after a friend of mine who died on a motorcycle accident on 10/10/10. Had on full gear, coming around a turn and hit a deer in Upstate NY and died from blunt force trauma. At the time he had a then new e92 M3 but before had a 335i.

I miss that guy so much. RIP.

I don't normally name my cars unless I come up with something funny. I now call the Miata the Homo Hooptie & the Hellcat Satan's Chariot 2.0 (My C6Z was the original Satan's Chariot).

My cars named Ed after a character from my favorite Anime- Cowboy Bebop.

Ed's computer's name is Tomato, and my interior is red so it seemed fitting.
