Transferring Warranty/Maintenence/BMW Assist
I just bought my bmw private party and would like to transfer the warranty/maintenence/bmw assist to my name. Does anyone know what I need to do (if anything) to get this done? Thanks!!!!

You shoudn't have to do anything about the warranty or maintenance plan, both of those should be attached to the VIN. Not sure how the BMW Assist works but I believe new cars come with 4 years of service so you probably don't have to do anything for that either.

yea the warranty stays with the VIN. I dunno about the assist, i remember having to call some number to activate it when i first bought the car. And I used it once for a jump and i don't remember if they were required to know my name either. I guess you can double check and press assist anyways just to verify.
Another thing you can do is go on bmw's website and enroll into owner's circle. It'll ask you to enter the vin of the vehicle so i guess they can keep track of the mileage or owner? I just did it incase of TSB's and recall info since i use to move around alot |

You might want to call the BMW NA toll free number and let them know that you are the new owner of the vehicle and give them your contact info and such. You may also be able to do this by pressing the assist button in the car.

For BMW Assist, they told me I had to complete an agreement at the dealership, which I had taken care of the next time I brought it in. No cost, just had to sit down with someone and sign a paper. I ended up getting 2 full years of BMW Assist (beyond what would have been the original 4 years) this way.
Maintenance and warranty transfer with no questions asked, as others have mentioned. |
