My question is.... how many of you have actually had zero or very few problems with their N54 vehicles. Also what year is your vehicle, miles, mods, etc. I plan on running JB+ and DCI for now in hopes to limit problems associated with very high hp. Thanks in advance.

I have a first batch 07 335i, at 30k miles wastegates were rattling so the dealer installed new turbos, besides that so far No problems, I'm still on my original fuel pump, original injectors, now my car has 54k miles and still run strong, I haven't had any software upgrades at the dealer either.
I'm running dci, downpipes, completely catless, upgraded front mount and stage 2 giac flash.

OP, there are a lot of us that have posted here that are pretty heavily modded. Most of us on this forum are going to run the car harder than the average Joe so I personally don't think you have much to worry about.

FYI, just make sure you don't follow the BMW recommended maintenance of 15k oil changes for example. Change your oil every 5k miles (at most 7,500). Their recommended maintenance is nothing more than BMW squeezing the life out of their (insert sarcasm) fantastic 4 year, 50k mile "free" maintenance program.

Thanks Jstang. I appreciate the info. Yea I would never run 15k on an oil change on any vehicle much less a modded twin turbo engine. Seems like most of the kink/recalls have been worked out with these cars so I am hoping mine will remain relatively trouble free with proper care and maintanance. Btw. After reading all of the mods everyone has I think I will go straight to the JB4 and DCI and skip the "stepping stone" JB+. JB4 just seems like too much fun!!!

I havent had any issues myself. I have an 08 335 coupe with 45k miles (20K miles FBO) and I had the HPFP replaced once as well as injectors. Im due for plugs but im still under factory warranty so no money out of my pocket I put down 378whp and 411 ft lbs of torque ALOT faster than a FBO G35 in my opinion

Had hpfp replaced n 3 injectors under recall...had the car sine 07, ran JB3 for two years and then i went stock after i had my son in '09, just last month had oil leak, so had to replace oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket and also my water pump took a crap on me...rem. I was stock! So while i was repairing what seems common on the n54 to break, i went FOB now n running everything oon my sig.now in the next week or so im going to change 3 injectors cause theyre the old style injectrors and will clean the carbon build up, im at 40K..

Sounds like a man with a plan. JB4, DCI, and Meth will net you nice gains.

Early 07 335i w 66k miles now. No Issues. Had to replace spark plugs when I added JB4 but that's just regular maintenance. All recalls done on it.

I see a few people with oil filter housing gasket leaks. I do have a very minor leak from there on the car I am buying. Does anyone know the cost to fix it or is it something I can do myself. Thanks

Ok well I am trying to be a good new forum member so I used the search button (lol) and found the DIY on the Oil filter housing gasket. Doesn't semm too bad at all. Although, I am still curious what BMW would charge.

Get the car, have the recalls done if it already hasnt been done.
Change pligs and oil yourself(very easy) and then tune it(u would avoid jb+, youre better off with a real tune)

I have a feeling those early 07's (before March) are probably the most reliable 335i out there.

That's when demand wasn't very high, which gives BMW enough time to conduct proper QCs on these cars.

I had to have my 2010 135i reprogrammed once because of a fueling issue, and my 1M hasn't done anything except break 2 charge-pipes.

The 135i got to 37,000 miles, and the 1M is at 7,000 miles right now.

Both are manual, and both have always been ran with 10% ethanol 93 pump gas or MS109. I've actually experimented with higher ethanol concentrations in the 1M with zero issues, and extra boost/ignition timing capability.
