Noob question. I successfully installed everything. How do I go about actually coding a few items? I just want to turn off the seat belt chime and GPS/iDrive warning.

This video I made should help you out. It covers the process using the BMW coding tool. You'll need to research for the module and parameter you need to change for each coding change.

Thanks. I followed your exact steps. But when loading the profile on NCSExpert, I only have the CNCoding and Expert Mode profiles. I went with the Expert Mode profile. Opened the ABG module and coded the SBR_BEIFAHRER and SBR_FAHRER to nicht_aktiv. But, either it did not successfully changed the values to nicht_aktiv, or it just immediately revert back to aktiv when I restarted the car.

Any ideas? Not the correct profile loaded? This is for seat belt reminder chime.

You used the expertmode profile for default coding. Use the other one for coding manipulation. FYI, you can edit a profile and name it anything you want.

Thanks for the DIY.

I'm stuck on step 17, where you launch the BMW coding tool. I get system error &H80004023 "a microsoft software installer error was encountered."

How do I fix this? Thanks.

Try right clicking on the file and run as admin.

I am wanting to connect my genuine ICOM to BMW Standard Tools software and I understand that I need to configure the connectivity setup using ITool Radar.

I just installed ITool Radar on my 64bit Dell. I extracted the files to C:Program Files but when I click on the desktop shortcut to run it, it states 'JRE not found'. I installed Java 8u131 which shows up in Programs and is the latest update available.

Does ITool Radar work properly on a 64bit laptop?

Can someone assist me, please?

Thanks!

Locate the file IToolRadar.ini in your IToolRadar folder and open with notepad. Ensure the file paths for all of the java files are correct (Class Path=*****). If not, correct them, save/close file, then try again.

I had to do the same when I installed Java in a different location than what was listed in the file. Changed it, then worked fine.

Thanks everyone for all the valuable information; it's helping me a lot.

I have ISTA+ and ISTA/P running well and would like to install BMW Standard Tools. ISTA install EDIABAS folder as you know and BMW Tools also does. Can I use BMW Tools with the EDIABAS that ISTA+/P created? I am trying to no delete ISTA's EDIABAS and/or overwrite it.

Thank you in advance.

My install does not take into account ISTA, and I personally have not attempted to get them to coexist. Maybe someone else can chime in, sorry.

I have ISTA+ installed and BMW Standard Tools both on the same machine. No incompatibilities.
I installed standard tools first and then I have the standalone Rheingold in the C:\Rheingold directory.

That's good to know. ISTA+ as well as ISTA/P (netapps) are on C:\ as well as EDIABAS (ISTA's). I am thinking about letting BMW Standard Tools install everything on C:\ and then I replace BMW EDIABAS with my ISTA's EDIABAS back and see what happens.

Does it make sense?

thanks.

Chances are your Ista's ediabas doesn't have the ECU files that Standard Tools needs. When you install Standard Tools, you can replace your Ista Ediabas and be perfectly fine.
Thanks for the info. Will try the install. Thank you much.

I've got lost here. Meaning what exactly?
I had 2.12 installed on a different machine and I could have INPA and WinKFP running kind of OK. INPA would give me errors, but Win worked OK.

I was just saying don't run the ST2.12 installer & expect it to work. You need to delete the Ec-apps, Ediabas, NCSEXPER folder from your C drive that the installer creates & replace them with "pre-built" folders from Joe's folder or you can get them from our site.
Got it, thanks.
