High Pitched Noise - Golf Tee Mod?
I have had my 06 330i for about 4 months now and have started noticing a high pitched noise under slight acceleration around 2500K RPM, which stops when the pedal is lifted. It almost sounds electronic, but I do not think it is. I did some searching and see it could be related to the vacuum tube that runs to the exhaust flapper. I have also noticed the flap in my exhaust seems to NEVER be closed, even when the engine is off or just started. I do not know if the previous owner did the golf tee mod, or if the flapper actuator is broken (flapper moves freely by hand) and want to know what the best way is to check this? Any help?

The flapper in mine is never closed either and i've not done the golf t mod. Not sure if previous owner did the mod or not...
I did notice on mine the right pipe was slighty loose and adjusting this got rid of the noise i had. |

Any suggestions here? Still have the noise. How do I check to see if the golf t mod was done?
I also now notice when I turn off the climate control system all the way, the sound goes away. This makes me think it is a vacuum issue of some sort. Last edited by cdavi060; 12-21-2012 at 12:35 PM.. |
