Odd idle at Start-up

Has anyone else experinced erratic idle at start-up? When I first start my car, te dle is high, as is usual, but the idle cycles from normal idle down 300-400 RPM's for about 1/2 second then back up to normal. This happens in a cycle for abut 30-45 seconds. I am also hearing a mild ticking until the engine hits operating temperature. I have heard that the 07 335's had trouble with the fuel pump but I hpe that is not it. I have the car in Spain right now and I wouldn't trust them with a 78 Ford Pinto much less my BMW. I expect to bring the car back to N.VA in the next few months so BMW NA can look at it for me. Thanks for any info/experiences...

sounds like the fuel pump dude...car should idle smooth in all situations...could also be bad gas though? and the ticking...bad lifter?? SOunds like you need a good BMW mechanic.

normally on a cold start (not just in cold weather) almost every car i've owned started at a higher RPM/idle/warm up until about 10-15 seconds after it was started. The ticking I am not so sure about, that could be an exhaust leak??

the ticking seems to me like a bad lifter or the cooling system (maybe)...

Very late update to this thread. My car is finally back in the US and spending the night at the Dealer. I talked to the SM today and it seems that they found a solution to both of my problems, both programming issues. It seems the wastegate tick is caused by some programming error, presumably the one that other threads have accused of robbing boost. The other problem, is from a programming error that allowed, SM's words "air" to get into the engine... He said something needed to be bled and the car would be ready tomorrow. They checked the fuel pump and there are no problems. I think, in hindsight, that the idle problem was a result of European high octane fuel, which another poster had told me is rated on a different scale than US premium. The only sad part is that my car now has to obey the speed limit...
