Audio Issue

Iv suddenly encountered a werid audio issue;
Sound comes from right hand side speakers only..
then after turning car on and off the sound only comes from the left hand side of car.
On another occasion no music at all is heard.. crank speakers up max and i can hear only bass..
wtf is going on with my audio?

What type of hi-fi do you have as I have the Alpine upgrade and there was a post on here that provided the following fix which works:

So just to confirm what I did. Ignition off, under the Amp the Pos switch should be on position 2 switch it to 1, turn ignition on. Leave it for a min or two. Ignition off, switch back to position 2, switch ignition back on again.

Wish I'd asked here before taking it in to BMW. Got a reverb buzzing from my left front speaker since they checked all the connections... Gonna have to get that sorted now.

Hope this thread helps anyone experiencing the same issue. Thanks to all that posted responses.

Update.

After checking all the speaker connections I turned my attention to the little switch under the amp. Even though it was in the correct position 2 for my pro Nav HU, I flicked the switch a few times to clean the connection and hey presto no cutting out for the last few hours of driving.
This makes sense as the last time the left channel cut out, slamming the bootlid made the sound come back.
If this persists maybe some contact cleaner may be needed.

Hope that helped

If it turns out not to be the amp, also check the wires connecting to the speaker drivers themselves (esp the door mounted ones). Mine kept cutting out randomly, and I traced it to poor connection on the speaker itself....

Found the issue:

I pulled it all apart and found out a puddle of water had gathered where the amp sits...
After researching, the taillight seal was worn and water had seeped through gasket seal.
After rectifying that issue no more leaks.
But amp is toast(although apparently its fixable with some eectrical cleaning spray)
