Whats the Proper Way to Get BMW Tools/Inpa/GT1 Working?
I have a 08 E93 335i, and I had followed instructions to a tee by a op on here, but for someone reason, inpa was not working thoroughly.
I have the one stop cable as well. Can anyone send me a link, or guide to installing BMW tools and inpa correctly. I'm a macbook pro (windows 7 64 bootcamp). Thanks in advance! |

Install VMWARE or VirtualBox and then grab this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1220039
You load the image onto your machine under Virtual Box, modify the port and network settings to your hardware and fire up the virtual machine. Everything is then ready to go. Remember to plug in your Interface first before firing up Virtual Box so it finds it. |

Is that the only way, or is there another method to do this?
Also, are there any cons to running VMware? Plan on doing a lot of diagnostics and nettodat programming. |

That is by far the simplest way to get everything properly set up.
All of the configuration files are there and in place, all of the software is functional, etc. I ended up giving the VM 2 processors, out of 4 available cores and 8 virtual processors, increased available RAM to 8 gigs, and set up the serial ports after plugging in my interface before starting up Virtual Box. Cons: The graphics updates are slightly slower, but you can mitigate that by a large amount, if you tweak the graphics settings to utilize any hardware acceleration present in your host computer. It works very well otherwise. The only minor issue I have is that, since I changed the virtual host's configuration the activation workaround included for Windows, doesn't work and the VM comes up thinking it is running an unactivated copy of Windows. Everything still works though. I tried giving the VM a real activation number, and the VM's version of Windows goes active, but when I reboot the VM again, Windows still comes up as not activated. Not a show stopper, just annoying. All of this is FAR easier than trying to get a full setup piecemeal on your host operating system. |

The native versions are faster and don't slow your pc (non apple pcs)down
nearly as much. And you don't have to learn vware or virtual box . I used vmware with dis 57 it sucked I used virtual box with the win 10 demo not so bad but why deal with and extra layer that eats up more pc resources and disk space if you don't have to. wildcatcrazy has a native inpa edibas ncsexpert and various version of itsta d/p are available to that work with just a k/d can cable . But it you have an Apple based pc then you need the vm's I think. Last edited by ctuna; 11-21-2016 at 03:12 AM.. |

Thanks for all the help guys. So I had a few last questions:
- Will I have to change any daten files (Have a 08 e93 335i)? - Will V3 work on my apple pc? I will use virtual box for it? My macbook is 2012 model (non retina) 16gb of ram, i7. I think that should handle it right? |
