So with the appetite of more power there has been a lot of news regarding upgraded turbo’s for the N54. Not until recent, have there been several options for this engine. Many people through the forums and treads have been asking the difference between turbos (specs, price, power, etc). Here it is visually in one place. With the success with the N54 Tune Comparison Chart that has helped so many make decision on what tune to choose from, here is the N54 Turbo Upgrade Chart. The chart is in .PDF format so you can go to links associated with the text.

I'll be collecting new data as time goes by. The chart will be updated accordingly. That said the features listed in the chart are what is currently available in the market.

I think Vishnu/FFTEC is only selling the 66mm now instead of the 62, $300 more and supports 900hp. I guess my dynos don't count

Off the top of my head, our VFF700 made 550whp on 93oct, 654whp ok 93+meth, 659whp on e85+meth.

With the 6466 (which now replaces the 6262), 600whp on 91oct, 670whp on 91+meth and 700whp on 100+meth. I don't recall tq numbers off hand but will be sending OP accurate and verified info when I get the chance.

Agreed. The RBs and Stage 2s imo are pretty spectacular for a road course car or HPDEs. Especially considering how affordable they are compared to the more powerful offerings.

That RB price right? For RBs and the PCV delievered to the install shop, $240 of install parts, and install costs by 2 bwm techs, I was $3,990 in total out of pocket. Added on $113 for the rental car if you want to be picky. And i still have my original turbos.

I think there should additional rows on the RB turbo and VTT stage2:

Maybe separate rows for:

1) External wastegate actuator arm
2) Internal wastegate components (main support Bushings, Wastegate Levers/pins, Wastegate Arms, Flappers/retaining washer) (Billet vs. Stainless)
3) Center sections (Is it an upgraded center section over stock, if so what?)
4) Compressor and Turbine Wheel Shaft (Is it an updated shaft, if so what?)
5) Maybe internal thrust option available (yes/no - If yes, cost)

Any hardware that is different the potential customer would benefit from knowing this.

Installation time for both would be the same.

Not sure where you got the 93+ meth of over 500whp for the RB's. I've only seen over 500whp with 93 +meth +race gas. I've seen things in the neighborhood of 470-480 whp for 93 octane + meth, but maybe I have not seen some recent info.

RB cost is actually less than what it seems as I tend to quote all inclusive. This means that any "tax" for paypal and credit usage are included up front as is the core charges (which are refundable). RB Turbo cost is actually $2,999 for either setup; plus core charge (temporary held funds); plus $100 flat rate "tax" for using paypal/credit card (as they cost dearly in fees); plus shipping. For apples to apples I do believe I'd have best put $2,999 here.

I was allowed to put some data into this chart. I do think it was intended to be more high level, as some of these points I had included but they were removed. It makes sense as it was not intended to be a tech document but rather just a glimpse into the different upgrade path options. I believe the HP numbers were searched by the OP, and I think he had some requirements for the numbers (could not be tuners car, etc) as I am pretty sure there are better numbers out there but I never had the time to verify or look around.

The way I read the numbers, is that both yours as well as stage 2 VTT include core charges. So they're apples to apples. I do agree it's a bit better to show the net cost, plus the extras.

In which case the VTT price would drop by $400 for their core charge, or more, if they also include paypal type fees in their cost, like you.

Great work, by the way, on putting this info together OP. Eventually, you might want to include footnotes in your post for the dyno numbers, if you feel up to it...

One question: "93+" octane. Can you define that? Was that a race gas mix?

If there truly is a 93 only WHP number, that would be great to see, for someone who might want to upgrade and not have meth, or race gas/E85 in their tank.

I would agree with you typically as that is indeed how it reads. However I just am not sure it reads correctly. It is worth the question in order to get the correct assessment.

Thank you for taking the time to put together the chart. I must point out that you are comparing the inducer wheel dimension of one turbo to the exducer dimensions of another for both the turbine and compressor dimensions. I'm sure this is unintentional. Below is the correct information.

Compressor wheel dimensions:

The Garrett GTX2863 turbochargers have a compressor inducer dimension of 47.1mm and an exducer of 63.4mm

VS

The Precision 6262 turbochargers have a compressor inducer dimension of 62mm and an exducer of 82mm.


Turbine wheel dimensions:

The Garrett GTX2863 turbochargers have a turbine inducer dimension of 53.9mm and an exducer of 46.95mm

The Precision 6262 turbochargers have a turbine inducer dimension of 72mm and an exducer of 62mm.

We have recently substituted the 6262 turbocharger with the 6466 and aptly renamed the kit VFF900.

Below is the information for the 6466

The Precision 6466 turbochargers have a compressor inducer dimension of 64.39mm and an exducer of 86.61mm.
The turbine inducer dimension of 74.17mm and an exducer of 66mm.

Rob mentioned his RB Turbo price includes the core charge of 300$. It this the same for the Vargas core charge $400?
