Safe to AutoX a stock FBO E92 335?
Hey guys, I was paranoid about going to the track in my e92 335i .. so i bought an mr2 spyder race car :O it's awesome, however now that i've autox'd it i would love to auto x the e92 335i as well, especially for events further away that i need to haul stuff with me.
So my question is, can I safely auto X the e92 335i? Is there precautions i should take? Adding extra oil? I'm mainly concerned about any oiling issues, oil starvation issues. I am FBO but I will likely tone down the boost to stock for the event. I have a factory oil cooler. Let me know! I'd love to be able to let it rip without really needing to do anything! |

AutoX is generally pretty easy on your car. Perhaps your local events are different but, often, you car spends 90% of its time parked, 9% waiting in line and 1% doing a hot run.
Check event results. That will confirm how much time you'll spend pushing your car. These are social events and, while there are always people who take it way too seriously, desperately seek bragging rights or downright cheat, the vast majority are enthusiasts. So instead of just sitting on your butt in between runs, consider volunteering. Organizers usually need "corner workers" i.e. people to reset cones. Clean up help is also appreciated and another way to connect. But yeah, take your 335i. Tire pressure gauge is the main tool you'll need. Enjoy. Last edited by Joe_in_WLA; 09-17-2025 at 11:54 AM.. |
