Seized Track Rod/Tie End?
Went to get my wheel alignment done earlier and was told the front near side toe couldn't be adjusted as the track rod / tie rod end was seized - got a replacement part on order awaiting fitment in the weekend. Is this a common problem?
Mine is a 57 plate so almost 7 years old.

Hi mate
I had the exact same problem last week. Just havent had time to get the tracking rod replaced. The guys were saying its a common problem with bmw. How much did the part cost you and how much for labour? cheers |

^I was quoted £95 inc fitting and VAT.
Going to pop back in on Saturday for fitting and realignment check, hopefully should solve my 11 o'clock steering position.

I have the exact same problem.
Went to get my wheel alignment done. They checked the rear wheels and said they are spot on and don't need adjusting. The fronts were out but they couldnt adjust as it was seized and said to get the track rod end changed. The part itself can be had for about £20 afaik. Just need to find out the labour cost to change it but cant imagine is being more then £30 or so as it shouldnt take long.. |

£20 will likely be for the rod end only. Most places will replace the rod and rod end. I had lots of fun freeing up the rod ends on mine a month ago.

Mine has just gone as well, can only do the aliment once changing rod ends.
£20 each for parts and £50 labour. All down to a bad design letting dirt get in between the threads. |

Not very ambitious of these alignment centres. Get the hot spanner out and sort it out. Its not as if you can replace the track rod end without removing the old one anyway so either way its getting removed.
