335XI short shifter SSK

2008 335XI: Short shifter install
-Dinan Billet Short-Shifter Kit D550-1005
-Shifter Ball Bushing 25111220600; not required/spare
-Shifter Lever Circlip 25117571899; not required/spare

Searching for 335XI short shifters returns no compatible parts. Based on forum searches it seems all 335I short shifters are compatible by installing through the center console.

So that Dinan part number works on the xdrive is what I'm seeing? Looks like a really nice piece and a great write up!

So you installed a full shift kit along with the shorter knob? How does it feel?

I've driven an e92 328i with a short throw kit (I think dinan?) And I hated it. I did not like the way it felt at all. I think a simple short throw little shifter does a good job of making the throws short and notchy.

UUC's EVO3 SSK is listed as compatible with xDrive models. I just got mine and will be installing it this weekend

So UUC sent me an incomplete kit and I had to postpone this install. Finally got it in last week and love it. Shifting is more direct and I have much more confidence in which gear I am going into.

I did this from the top in about 20 mins. However, I had the trans down the previous week to do a swap so I rebuild the carrier and bushings on the trans before hand. Heads up, while replacing the shifter from the top is doable, it was VERY tedious and I don't think most will be able to do the same.

My only regret is not putting in a DSSR as well. I already had the trans down so it would have been super easy but I wasn't thinking

I don't think the DSSR fits xDrive vehicles - at least what they offered several years ago did not. Respect for being able to install from the top. NO WAY could I make that work!

You have to be slightly more aggressive with the shifts but you get a much better response/feeling. I think it’s a 20% reduction in the throw but I found the stock shift knob too tall and odd with the short shifter, added the performance shift knob afterwards and it’s a huge improvement.

Hmm I think you're right. It seems no one sells a DSSR for xDrive.

That sucks. I have an idea though
