VRSF catless downpipe fix - Is it Okay if I leave it?

Im about to have my catless dp installed. I have the DP Fix from the website, its basically this small box with a couple of wires sticking out. I'm wondering If I can just leave it installed or should I only install it when i need to pass emissions?

I left mine in.

However after a while my car started throwing codes.

My Indy looked into it and discovered that the DPFix was remaining on all the time. They hooked it up to a switched circuit so that it is fully powered off with the engine.

After doing that, no more codes... and it continues to work fine... readiness goes OK too.

Good to know. I'm considering doing the DPFix too.. Do you have a diagram or picture of how yours was set up after the circuit switch?

Does anyone have any more information on this?

I am picking up a catless downpipe in the spring, but I want to make that that VRSF dp fix works without issues.

How easy is the install / uninstall?

Why are you using a DPFix on the N55. I have catless DP and achieve readystate without a DPFix and I make them for the N54. LOL

You can read ready if you drive easy for X amount of miles?

My car tosses the code instantly. Im talking with in 2-3 min drive after clearing the dme codes via mhd. It comes in as a secondary almost instantly and will take 10-15 miles before it throws the engine light.

Im almost thinking about a dp fix for the few times I pull the tune for service.

I'm not sure what you're running for a tune, but I have no codes. I have a catless DP from Mike@N54Tuning with a Pure Stage 2 turbo. I'm able to hit ready state even when I abuse the car which is daily.

Your software shuts off the sensor. Your cat says, "Not avail" and evap is incomplete. You will fail emission test. Switch your car to a stock map and let us know how fast your CEL comes on with a catless dp.

Why would he fail emissions? His oxygen sensor is showing as ready. His evap is incomplete because that one takes the longest but most states will pass you with one not ready.

depends on the state some will allow one fail some none

In Virginia everything has to be ready and complete unless the car doesn't have it of course.

Also from what i've read not a good idea to leave it on it'll throw codes.

Catalyst reading "Not Available" means the sensor is disabled = automatic fail.

Not sure where you are getting your information. My car is 100% emissions ready and it's showing catalyst as N/A.

That is because your software has it disabled so you won't get a check engine light.

I've been running the DP fix since last summer with no issues.

MHD stage 2 maps disable the CEL for DP codes but they do not show cat readiness for emissions.

The way to pass emissions with MHD is to flash back to stage 0 and complete several drive cycles so the ECU can see the O2 sensor signal from the DP fix.

This is my emissions readiness with the DP fix:

You are NOT supposed to leave it on forever, it can and will alter your fuel trims.

I'm confused. So the VRSF downpipe fix should only be out on before emissions?

I thought you connect it to the ECU after installing the downpipes as a permanent solution so your car won't throw codes relating to the DP.

I am a n55 btw...

No, as said you only put them in for emissions testing. To get rid of the light on the dash you use a tune like MHD or a piggyback like JB4, you will still have codes but they don't affect anything.

Well that is new information. I thought you leave DP fix in all the time?

My engine light just came on and my car started idling rough. Is that normal or do I have bigger problems?

I left my DME reader at home today.
