2010 335i n55 oil leak
Hi guys, I've had a burning oil smell for a little while, got told it was the valve cover gasket. I've booked it in for this week to get done, however I went to start the car 3 days ago and the engine oil level has gone all the way to the bottom and telling me to fill up oil. I've looked in the engine bay and there is a puddle of oil in the front of the engine bay. I want to fill it up with some oil and drive it to the garage which is about 10 minutes from me, however I'm scared it will not hold the oil and will just come out, I don't want to ruin the engine. Any advice?

If it is in front of the engine bay, it might be the oil filter housing gasket that is leaking. If you can see oil on the belt and the charge pipe, it is pretty clear the OFHG is bad. Don't worry, very common problems on these cars.... By the way I believe 2010 is still the N54. Are you sure you got the N55?

It's hard to guess how much oil you are talking about. If it's a few drops then it's probably a slow leak from the OFHG. If it literally is all the oil your front main seal probably popped out (not sure how that could happen just sitting), or your oil pan is cracked in the front.
