Sure - an if there is a dent or scratch under that plastic it is your problem now - not theirs.
I get excited over new toys too - but I understand a bit of patience upfront can lead to a more satisfying ownership experience.
I don't let them wash the car either but I do check it over carefully and drive it directly to the clear-bra installer to be properly clayed, detailed and to have the film installed.
