As title i have a 2006 e90 330i n52 auto,

Very intermitantly at either very low revs while driving, or if im at a junction and want to head off quickly and accelerate im experiencing a stutter/hesitiation for a few seconds then ita fine. On the odd occasion it will completley cut out. Maybe a couple of times a week it happens.

Want to try and nip it in the bud, ive read maybe coil packs, cam sensors??

Had agen spark plugs last december

Any help would be appreciated

First job is to see if there are any fault codes stored.

From the description it could be a multitude of things and you will just be randomly slinging money at it in the hope you win the lottery of finding the fault.

If there are failing parts you should have something in the error memory to give a clue where to start looking.

My old one had similar issues and it turned out to be the vanos solenoid but as the others have mentioned no point in guessing. Could be several things

Only a generic scanner, worth trying a specialist bmw one?

Absolutely, generic code readers will not pick up the BMW specific codes. You will want to find someone with Carly at the very least, INPA/ISTA with a cable is more advanced if you're up for it, cheaper too as the software is readily available, you would just need the cable and a laptop to install on.

Carly would be the easiest option though as it's quick and easy!

If you have a Windows laptop (anything XP and on will do it doesn't need to be the latest Win 10) INPA is the way to go although depending where you source the software it often has another acronym attached which is PITA to install!

Once you have it running though you will never look back!

I have a 2006 330i N52 as well, I had a similar issue as well, around 2500rpm it would feel really rough and if I floored it, the EML would come on. After loads of googling, I thought it was the Vanos Solenoid. However when the garage looked it, the fault was one of the cylinders, so they removed and re-seated the sparkplugs and then swapped the coils around to see if the fault moves to the next cylinder to rule out the coil. Over a 1000 miles later the issue still hasn't appeared again and there is no rough feel or hesitation.
