Haven't gone to the dealer yet since it hasn't bothered me enough to take it in. I think it's from the wastegate area. It's definitely not the exhaust flap for me since it doesn't exist in the performance exhaust.

Ive had the same thing happening since my car was brand new. When you start the car, at the moment the car starts up, i get a quick rattle, sometimes it happends sometimes it doesn't. It also happends whether my car is cold or already warmed up. Doesnt ever rattle at any other time, just the 3 seconds or so when its starting.

Question - Driving yesterday with the windows and sunroof open, whenever i released the accelerator, i would here a rattling noise underneath the car. Anyone have any ideas what that would be?

This car has an initial start up procedure every time it's started. The direct injection acts somewhat like a diesel and sounds a little louder than the regular engine.

Yeah, the car was turned in and it has the latest progman, but I still hear the rattling every once in a while. Specifically the first couple minutes of driving, then it goes away the rest of the drive.
The update has done one thing I love. My exhaust sounds almost twice as loud and roars when I accelerate. So awesome.

It is BS. Take them the SIB and show them what they need to do, thats what I did after they told me "BMW's make that noise as they get older". I'm thankful they accepted the paperwork I gave them(SIB) and immediately working to fix the problem. Love Taylor BMW.

thanks for the paperwork. After reading through it though, yours refer to the metallic noise from the engine. I should have stated that my noise is coming from the exhaust flap.
