And squeeze the 335is in there to make more money. Sons of Nazi Whores!
AGAIN, I agree with you, they did purposely slow down the n55 and the 335is was a money grab between the now lesser powered 335i and the M3. I just wish I could have afforded the 335is. And now with a new baby in a few months, buying something different is out of the question. i work 2 jobs and i am too busy to do heavy n55 mods nor afford them.

I agree that I never have felt the N55 had the umpf of the N54s I have driven. But it is still quite a bit of fun with the PROcede and I will soon have my CDV and intercooler done. Might not be a beast like the N54, but I am quite happy with it. If all I cared about was speed, I would be driving a Mustang.

If I can hit the numbers Terry/Shiv are doing with FBO and maybe meth, I will be happy. I don't need to track this thing or prove anything to anyone else. It is fun to drive, and I like the LCI styling a lot more than the older versions.

I think we got lucky that the N54 was such a beast motor, rather than the N55 is a disappointment.
thanks for the congrats, i told my wife we can get by with a baby seat in a coupe and you are living proof. i guess another way to look at it is that the lesser powered n55 might help keep me out of trouble with troopers. I hope!

the n55 does have more low end tq. just look at the graphs, its just that the power is delivered differently. much like n54 owners who claim that the mustang 5.0 feels so when it actually puts down way more power and tq.

U disagree tibra? If it's an engine discussion, then that's the way it goes; all of those can make way more power.

I disagree.

You left out the LS series of small blocks.

I only kept it to foreign cars... The LS is a beast and must be respected!

yes, but what is the point of keeping on and keeping on with this engine comparison, I think everyone knows where this argument stands... It gets very old.

In the end, I wish you N55 guys the best and I hope that a turbo upgrade comes out real soon for you guys because it is badly needed and from the way I see it, you are maxed out at 360-370 WHP which compared to an N54 just isn't impressive.
OP was talk'n bout stock for stock.
mod'd - that's a whole nother thread.

U def know that u want'd performance wise and went N54.

the N54 is a fine engine stock, also great for performance
potential - as it's been proven.

The N55 is work'n toward max performance -
but no dramatic similarities
in performance with bolt ons like the N54.

I say move past it - the N54 is a great engine - great performance
mod'n - period. the info's there.

I say - stay focus on the N55 and try to maximize it's power mods for
any future models. I'm sure we'll have discussion bout
the 4 banger twin turbo engine mod'd.

Its too late to change cars. I'm financing my N55 and I bought it new. I'd lose too much money on it. I guess I'll just have to get the JB3. *sigh*

Best run was 12.9 at 110 temps were 86 and it was very humid. I only had about 15 min cool down time for the first run and 0 min cool down time for the rest. I got there a little late and they said they were closing the track early.

With the higher boost it spins 2nd and 3rd and the tq comes up so damn fast its extremely hard to modulate the throttle.

On +6.5 it pulls extremely hard up top usually in 4th gear. I dont think i can do much better on these tires unfortunately.

Oh and the n54 broke down So N55 is Better !!

Wait until you see what an extra 2-3 degrees of ignition advance and meth will do to an n55. Since raising the boost isn't an option beyond a point, the only way we are going to make more power with a stock turbo'd n55 is to improve combustion efficiency. And the factory ignition advance curve is even more conservative than that of the n54. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another 20-25hp in there ready to come out with just a timing bump.

Here's what 2 deg did to a highly modded n54: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=561615
