You seem to be quite clued up on the n54 do you know what’s involved when removing the head and what needs replacing once it’s pulled ?

I would highly advise you buying a Bentley Repair Manuel for the e90.

The video below will get you down to the lifters.

Please describe the "combustion gasses test", HOW it was performed, by whom, and WHAT the findings were.

Do you have any steam (white vapor) from the exhaust, and if so, under WHAT engine conditions?

Have you pressure tested the turbo coolant lines in each turbo?
Have you done EITHER a Leak-down Test or Compression test?
WHERE/from WHOM are you getting all the "doom & gloom" predictions of "massive engine failure"?

If it's THAT bad, WHY would you waste the time/money trying to rebuild THIS engine?

You will need a very accurate torque wrench. Probably a 1/4 drive and the exact torque specs.

Remember, it's an aluminum block with aluminum head & bolts
