Noise I'm getting from turning left/right!
I'm getting some weird squeaking sound from turning the steering wheel at low speeds and when the car isn't moving. It happens without the brakes being applied, and at very slow speeds. Something you'll notice when backing out from a parking spot. Any ideas on what might this be? I also took a video of the sound check the link below! Thanks
I have an 07 335i e93.. Last edited by HK-E93; 02-16-2013 at 12:41 PM.. Reason: forgot info |

I'd suspect control arm bushings, esp. if you recently drove the car in heavy weather. Our car has done this once in a while. Indy mechanic suspects lubricant washing away from bushings, then getting replenished as they dry out. No torn covers, worn bushings found.
Only ever did it once in a while after driving in heavy rain. |

I had the same issue couple weeks ago. Since my car is CPO'd, it was covered under the CPO warranty. I took it to the dealer and their master mechanic checked the car, and told me the "drift shaft u joint" needs to be replaced. It's not hurting the car in anyway as of what they stated, but it can in the long run. It's basically a piece of plastic. Got it replaced and now there is no issue. But it was going to be expensive if it wasn't covered (labor charges are insane!)

that's more creaking than squeaking. honestly, it sounds like the tires on the ground as you turn the wheel.
have you jack the front end up and turned the wheel to see if you can duplicate the issue? |

Just had my at dealer for a 2nd time only mine was clicking. Had front control arm bushings done but ended up being something in the steering shaft. Should have it back Tuesday.

I noticed a similar issue on my e91 this past weekend. Sounds almost like a power steering problem to me since its a high pitch sound. Doesn't sound like a creak or groaning sound which tends to be bushing/suspension issues.
