Bilstein B12 / Eibach Pro Kit E92 328i Pic Request

E90post,

I've been doing lot's of research for my suspension refresh project and one of the finalists is the Bilstein B12 prokit which includes the Eibach Pro Kit springs. I've gone through a huge number of past threads only to see most of the images no longer valid by 3rd party hosting sites.

If anyone has has these on their E92 RWD (328i specifically, but 335i's welcome too) I'd love to see some pics posted to this thread. I'm mainly concerned the front drop isn't quite enough and I don't think I want to pair them with lowering perches - at that point I would just do coilovers.

Thanks in advance

Just note that Bilstein is way behind on their shocks right now. I've been waiting since August for a set for my 328xi and they are telling me it will be at least May before stock starts flowing in from Germany. Unsure if there are parts for the RWD kit, but they did tell me that all their products were backordered right now.

I'm starting to look at Koni Sport + Eibach kits as I'm getting tired of waiting.

Thanks.

I've had my eye on the kit for a while and have noticed it's back ordered. I didn't realized until I read another thread recently how long people have been waiting. I am willing to wait until April / May though.

They appear to be in stock at TireRack, for E90 rwd anyway. Have had my eye on a B12 setup for some time now.

Yeah I actually scoured the internet last night looking for these because I think I blew a shock. I now realize that TireRack is probably just selling the individual components that they have in stock as the kit sku? It's about as expensive as if you bought all the components individually.

Yah TH lists the set for $805 but like many other only retailers, it's listed as a drop-ship from manufacturer item. Who knows how long that will take to arrive. I am hoping to buy from someone who has the parts in their warehouse instead of having them shipped from Europe to CA.

Check with Bimmerworld. I think you'll find most of the Bilsteins are backordered and there is no real direct ship from Germany as those come by boat and then get shipped out, so it's not truly direct ship.

I ended up ordering Koni yellows and Eibach springs in the end as I'm just ready to do the upgrade and not willing to wait a few more months for Bilstein.

Did you blow a regular shock or the b8 shocks ? What mileage ? I'm approaching 57k on my e90 rwd and was looking at this kit for a while and wondering if it's necessary to change anything else at this mileage but most places don't have it in stock.

Welll I didn't really blow a shock. I just think it's time. The car wiggles on the highway and seems very sensitive to crosswinds. When I brake and come to a stop I sometimes pull left or right.

I have 72k on a standard suspension. I can either get a set of B6s (which are on backorder unless you want to pay $200 more than you would have two months ago), the B12 kit, or I could go whole-hog I guess and get the BMW performance suspension. I can't decide if I want to sport up this car or keep it comfy. I don't know how stiff the sport package or the euro sport package (bmw performance suspension) is. Or the B12. I wish I had a frame of reference. The B12 kit seems to be generally highly regarded.

To answer your question, you should probably replace the shock mounts, spring pads, and associated hardware. Several vendors have installation kits that come with everything or almost everything one would need.

Hey your E92 looks great. Did you run into any issues with the kit at all? Either usage, durability, installation, or weird quirks?

Also did you install with new shock mounts?

I'm hoping to do B12 + Dinan RSM + M3 front tower struts.
Do I or rather, should I also replace the "front shock mount"? Is there such a thing or is it only on the rear?

Likewise, do you have any advice on what else I should be replacing at the same time as the B12 and RSMs?

Thanks! The car handles and feels awesome. It looks great, but sometimes I would like it to be lower. However, here in SF, I think the height is just right. I forget all about it when I just get in and drive. It is quite planted and feels as controlled and maneuverable as my M's.

I've had the suspension on for about a year and have about 15K miles on it (includes road trip to Vegas, Page, AZ and both rims of the Grand Canyon). There have been no issues, but I did have a loose rear sway bar end link which was tightened up. No more noises since then. It will look like a 4x4 after initial install, but it settles nicely. Some people say it takes 3 months, but I think it took longer on mine.

Here is a list of what I changed:
B12 suspension kit
Eibach front and rear sway bar kit
M3 rear subframe bushings - these were a PIA and my mechanic actually damaged one
Lemforder front strut mount
Lemforder rear lower shock mount
Dinan 10mm rear upper shock mount kit
M3 front and rear control arms

Maybe Meyle HD tie rods in the future.

It'll be interesting to see how the rear looks in two weeks. My car is going in for the next mod next week. It's something that not many people do here...but it is my daily driver...and I want to be entertained.

Hey I see you're in Vancouver. I love BC. We actually took a road trip up there a while back in this 335i. The drive from Vancouver to Whistler is awesome. Is it king crab season now?

I just did my suspension in December last year. I did H&R sport springs over Bilstein B8's. Was just going to buy the kit from Turner, but they said Bilsteins were back ordered until February 2018. I couldn't wait because I had blown left strut, so I had to source the struts and one rear shock and the H&R springs from Tire Rack. The other rear shock I got from Rock Auto. What a mess.

Sure, just let me know. The only thing is that you may not get a good feel of the suspension with the mod (upgrade) that’s being done now. I’ll have a trunk full of equipment weighing down the rear. You won’t believe the sound though.

The Dinan / Koni combo is classic and synergistic. I had that on my 2000 E39. It was good, but nowhere near as fun as my E92. I know, they’re completely different cars.

I have a 330i on B12 and eibach prokit.
Very comfortable and handles great.

Bit i stll think that the eibach sportline i had on vw gli was more fun and better for cornering , stiffer though.

Thumbs up

What are your wheel and tire specs? I just bought the B12 kit and am waiting to install it. I currently have 18x9 et30, but kind of want 18x9.5 or 19x9.5.
