I think that would have to be a very big plus next to that 3K. I'm over 2500 and 2/3 of the way through your wish list. If you can plan it you might be able to get a small discount on the labour with the ARB and LSD together since some common parts have to come off for either. While you're at it playin' around at the back you might as well upgrade the brake hoses in the back if you have any plans for the AP brakes.

Great, mine is built in 03/07, guess ill have to go and have a look... What do i have to do/remove to see the diff?
If I have the bolted one, is it do-able to install the new diff myself? or is this not advisable?

thanx

You'll have to remove quite a bit to see the diff - basically you need to see the prop shaft to crown wheel. So exhaust, heat shields etc etc...

And no, I wouldn't advise you install the diff yourself. You won't have the proper tools to set the bearings etc...

And probably take you ten times the amount of time the experts would take. For comparisons, mine took 2½ hours but they'd already spent time putting the innards in the casing before I arrived. My OEM diff was also a welded unit.

ok, thanks, so definately have to go to a shop that can do both the bolted or welded in one go, dont want to have everything taken apart twice.... going to look for a dealer on the mainland here, if not, maybe have to go across the water!
Thanks!

It would be a whole differential, inside and out. You would then have it installed at your local garage and send the removed differential back (core exchange).

Yes. besides welded or unwelded, there are a myriad different diff gear ratios used across the range.(final drive ratio). So they need your VIN number to establish which ratio was fitted to your car so they arrange the correct replacement unit.

Especially 335d's apparently, where BMW kept changing final drives ratios fairly often.

If you are in Holland, it is best to call Kevin for your Quaife needs.

My Quaiffe is installed!!
Did the installation myself, was a lot of work, but its rewarding to do it yourself. As others have mentioned as well, you should not do this yourself if you have no experience with this kind of work. I did a lot of work on cars before, and i really enjoyed doing it. I did make quite a few pics during the installation, one of them you see below.
I did not drive a lot yet, but definately feels different/better in corners with some power on the wheels..

Ok, here some more pics, dont mind the mess please
Have been driving a bit more now. The car gets a LOT more of the power on the road now. Before, even with medium power the orange DSC light made overtime, now rarely see it.. In fast/high power turns the car is more predictable than before, but i did push it into quite a bit of understeer because it just keeps putting power on the road!!! its great, but was a 'special' experience.

Go for it - you won't regret it!

I can't imagine my car without it anymore and it's a must in wet and greasy conditions. Starting off from a set of lights or pulling out from a junction you actually have grip rather than one spinning peg that gets you nowhere.

Also, when I first got it I couldn't believe how much quicker the car felt and it was like I had been driving with the handbrake 2 clicks up all along. This just demostrate how much the ABS system has to fight to keep the rear wheels from spinning. Now I hardly ever see the traction light.

Does anyone have pics of the welded crown, and something showing where you have to machine it to separate the oem pieces?

You might find some by searching, but I'm sure the companies that have spent time/money figuring it out might not want to share it!
