I've asked Crown and Korman and they don't do it . They only do the chemical clean.

Performance BMW in Chapel Hill does walnut blasting, I believe. Don't know how far you're willing to drive for it.

So, apparently there is a new system/process going around now of cleaning the buildup on our valves that does not require walnut blasting that is just as effective and cheaper to do. One of the shops here was telling me about it and said they used to do walnut blasting but now use this and only charge $150-200 to do it! The shop I usually will take my car was getting acquainted with this system either last week or this week. Just a heads up for anyone looking for walnut blasting. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of what it was called. If anyone knows what I am talking about chime in, otherwise I will try to find out more shortly.

Holy crap! Didn't realize it was that pricey. I had mine done there 2 years ago and it was $400. Might have been part of a group buy, though.

I was at a MR. Tire and they offered me a chemical service that would clean up the buildup for around the same price. It's a 3 step process and I can't remember what they called it. I think Korman is doing the same thing now too and also at Crown BMW.

Yea, that is probably it. The guy assured me that it actually worked. Im glad that there is a cheaper alternative going around. Bavarian Auto does it and Carr Industries should be doing it by now too.

I just picked up a 2011 335is and I'm looking to meet other BMW owners. Are there any meetups in the triad area? I've got a lot to learn on this platform; I'm coming from the Lancer and Audi world.

I live in the Triad, not really much going on in the way of meets here. Another member who lives in G'boro meet up to help out on installs every now and then. There is a Cars and Coffee in Greensboro every 3rd saturday I think. Welcome aboard!

I'm having a problem with a dealer in rural NC . I had extensive work done on my car .It was an insurance claim and the dealer damaged the seats during the repair. The signed my receipt acknowledging the damage but will not do anything about the damage. Any ideas?

Open a case with the better business bureau online. You fill out some info and they mediate your claim. See how fast the dealer will settle with you once the BBB contacts them about your claim.

BBB is useless. It's basically a glorified yelp. Pretty much as long as the dealer/vendor replied with something, even if it is a lie, the BBB will say the case is resolved and the vendor made a good faith effort.

Have you ever used it? I have - and with stellar results. Your comment can't be further from the truth in my experience (also an automotive claim).

It doesn't cost anything to file a dispute, and takes a few minutes.

In this case, the vendor admitted to damaging his seats - which he has written proof of. I don't see how they can claim they've made any good faith effort to help resolve their mistake.

Yes, I have in a dispute with a dealer. I had email proof that what the dealer was saying in a reply was false. The BBB said the dealer made a good faith effort and closed the case and said I can contact a lawyer if I would like.

They may be useful for smaller stuff. The dispute I had was 10k+ and honestly was not very clear cut.

I just didn't like that the BBB didn't seem interested in the fact that what the dealer was saying was not true even though I had proof.

This case seems pretty clear cut to me though.

And in my case, it was also a $10k settlement that the vendor completely changed their tune on once the BBB contacted them, after refusing to even talk to me about it.

My point really is that it's free to use the service, and easy to fill out the paperwork online - so why not try it?
