LCI Rear Conversion Issues
I just finished my Pre-LCI to LCI Rear Conversion and am having issues with the reverse lights.
I noticed that the reverse lights are not lit up where they are supposed to be. It seems like the inner brake lights (Rear fogs) turns on when it is in reverse. The actual reverse lights do not work. It gets especially confusing when I have my headlights on because no one knows I am going backwards. When I'm driving, the inner tail lights are really bright, any way to turn them down a bit? I've attached pictures to better explain what I am talking about. The place that did the coding told me I would need the euro rear fog switch to get the actual reverse lights to work. For anyone that did a LCI Rear conversion run into this? Thanks for the help! First picture is when my headlights are on...gear in neutral. Second picture is when no lights are on as if it is day time, gear in reverse. |

Thanks but the tail lights actually had 4 pins. However, I finally figured it out. Got frustrating because different pin arrangements would either get rear foglamp on and/or no reverse lights. Pin arrangement went like: Left tail light: Pin 1 Purple/Black 2 Brown 3 Green/Yellow 4 Yellow/Black Right tail light: Pin 1 Yellow/Purple 2 Red/Green 3 Brown 4 Yellow/Black |

this wiring pin-out is a life saver. I read somewhere that you just reverse the pins but it's not true (because you still get the weird bright back light). You should change the thread topic title to a DIY.

Thank you
Thank you verry much for this wiring pin-out. It realy helps me. Please tell me if you know what exactly do I have to code ? I know I have to remove the bulb cheking for turn signal, but I don't know if I have to code something else.

I done the Pre-LCI to LCI trunk + lights like yourself, I've switched the wires so the rears and everything works good. Now my next question, blinkers blink very quick.. is this a programming issue or is this just a simple resistor issue that can solve?

Try coding out the bulbcheck for the rear turn signals. 4 Lines total. Refer to the coding list in the coding section for specifics.

Where is that part of coding? Because I get : Rear light left (and right) failure ! The blinkers are ok with bulb check stopped, but the rest? What coding is required for parking lights?

I only know of the following lines (set everything to nicht_aktiv). I believe this applies only to cars with FRM2.
You may have FRM1, in which case I don't personally know how to eliminate errors, but do know it is possible. You can also retrofit FRM2/3, in which case the method should definitely apply. Unfortunately this isn't cheap or easy. KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_HI WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_HI CC_MELD_BFD_BL FEHLERMELDUNG_CC_BFD_L & h |

Question, I have just the outer LCI tail lights I am going to retrofit on my Pre Lci. To do just the outers, do I need to rewire the pins like above? Or is that just for the inners?
I won't be doing the inners until I can find a good CSL LCI Trunk. Thank you for any help.

No need for rewiring for outers, just eliminate bulbs errors, and if you don't have Frm2 you will need to connect wire from pin 4 to pin 5 too. Otherwise you will have just one bulb per side on brake light.

So eliminate the bulb error, now once I do get the inners will I still need to fix the code or will the original bulb error code fix the inners too and I will then rewire as in the above pictures? Also, how do I find out what "Frm" I have? Thank You

I've seen you can update to Frm2 or 3 is this difficult or does it have to be done by the dealer? Also, what are the advantages?
