Yeah 8 speed is the most I have heard of so far, I am tempted to think it is an automatic and not a DSG, but I am not sure, Nick?

i'm fairly positive that the automatic on the A4 is a normal torque converter, only the S4 gets DSG or manual

No DSG I believe it's regular slush box but with 8 gears.

Well most of the new BMW offerings have an 8 speed transmission as well, 5 series, new X3, etc...

I resent that!

Actually the fuel economy numbers are on par with yours I believe because of the extra gears.

Yup, 8 gears definitely for increased economy, as well as acceleration...

Actually the gear changes make it .2 sec slower from my findings but hey I don't really look at those kind of things !

I'm going to sell all of my mods and wheels and tires, the idea is to mod the A4 a little to try to keep up with the big boys like yourself!

Sheesh, so sensitive. Nah, was just referring to the automatic and the Avant, not a combination you would typically see on track. You would see an Avant, or an automatic, but rarely both. Mind you, I know very well that with Quattro and tuned it reminds me of Tony's friend, quite a little bomb. No inferiority complex there !

lol...didnt watch the vid earlier cos i was in a grad lab where they block uneducational video clips. Assumed it was blocks wrx. I like the subbie better. I think its closer to the actual race car compared to the ford. The ford doesnt even handle anywhere close to the racecar in the vid.
