Strange noise from engine

See video please. It generally happens after some spirited driving on my way home from work. I hear it once I pull in garage. As you can hear in the video, it goes away after a restart. Thoughts?

Also. I bought the car about 6 months ago and it's about to cross 50k miles. 2013 e93 335i. Is there a maintenance schedule posted somewhere so I can do at least some of the checks myself? Thanks in advance if there is.

https://youtu.be/gLcS4fLI0c0 You can skip to about 55 sec. to hear the after restart.

That hum sounds like failing boost solenoid.

Ok. Thanks. Do you have any info on where to find out how to fix the problem? Thanks.

Sound of a failing pcv valve maybe? Does sound go away when you open the oil filler cap while noise is present?

it's the boost solenoid, also known as pressure convertor / wastegate actuator valve.

I had the same noise as your video and it would sometimes go away when restarting the car like it did in your video. noise started on my 2013 n55 x1 @ around 50k miles earlier this year, replaced and haven't heard the humming for since replacing 7 months ago.

check realoem.com to find the latest part # revision.

Perfect. THanks so much for confirming the diagnosis. Buying the solenoid as we speak.
