Paddle Shifters Not Working PLS HELP
So, my cars an 07 335i with about 113k miles and my paddle shifters don't work and I really want to fix them. All of the buttons on my steering wheel work perfectly BTW. But the paddles shifters haven't worked for the full year I've had the car and the guy I bought it from said they didn't work for him either.
The car came factory with the paddle shifter option and I'll post a pic of the steering wheel I have. I believe it's aftermarket but I'm not sure. I popped off the airbag to inspect all connections and everything is plugged in correctly with no loose wires or anything. Any idea what could possibly be causing the paddle shifters to not work? I've tried to use them in all driving modes and nada. Thanks, Josh |

This video should help... There should be 2 connectors goings to both steering wheel controls on each side, and 3 small wires into each connector, controlling the push to downshift and pull to upshift buttons. I removed mine and fitted Custom Billet Nelson Racing wheel paddles, which work great like the post LCI paddles. |

I`ve not been around long so this may or may not help - the only mention of paddle shifters not working i`ve heard of is when the alpina gearbox flash is being done.
Sticky in the technical section, read through and you will see there is a part two for if this happens. Might be worth trying to flash you gearbox software to check it is stock? That's if you are 100% sure its not a wiring issue (which it sounds like you are). |

I would agree with this. Take the paddles off the wheel and inspect and clean the contacts for the paddles.

First port of call is to take of the three torx bolts on the wheel trim
Check connectors etc. Second is underneath the actually gearstick if you remove all of that trim, the wires in there can sometimes have rips etc so could be a colourful wire Click here for a tutorial The only other option could be the Clock spring. I had this issue recently all of my multi function buttons worked but the paddles did not. Clock spring was broken. Let me know Ted |

What does your gear indicator say when it reverts? If it says D even after pushing the shifter into S, your wiring might be damaged preventing the car from actually going into S |

Yes, unfortunately its a super common problem. It's almost always just the wiring in the console.

No, in the center console where the shifter is, the wiring gets damaged/breaks. It's a simple fix, just pull the center console panel off and loosen the shifter then fix the wires connecting to the shifter where they are damaged
