Or he realized that it was turning into a huge money pit....and decided to cut the cord before he got way too much invested in it.

I get that some guys love rebuilding cars....but for what he had in it, and what still needed to be done to it....there were tons of better options out there for much less money.

Hopefully he will come back with an update.....

HEY guys I'm sorry I've been late, no I haven't given up however I have had to put the car on hold for a minute. I recently got promoted to a supervisor at my job and let's just say life getting the best of me. The car is in my garage sitting very pretty I didn't get it painted last however before I put it in the garage I did get the coolant issue fixed if you guys Remember it was smoking and leaking coolant. I apologize for not keeping up. Life's been rough !

Hey Man,
Your optimism inspired me and I'm sure many others...and gave me fuel to keep working on my car, I'm in a similar situation.
How did you end up cutting the fender apron? I'm thinking to go to a salvage yard an attempt to chop the apron. Still trying to find a shop to do the frame work.
Cheers

I was going to do all the work myself lol I only paid 3,600. I'm hoping that I could just get a welder to help out with the frame rail. Wondering if it's possible to just cut out another frame rail from another e92 335i and weld it together.
Yes it's possible if you know what your doing. I had an old Chevy k10 with kinda similar frame damage and that is exactly what I did. I would first bring it to a frame shop to see how much they would charge. I'd feel more comfortable having a professionals opinion on what you should do. Good luck man

Yes it really isn't that hard to get it chopped however just making sure that you have extra cut out from the donor car you get so you can make adjustments. When it's time to get the apron fitted. Anything is possible and it really isn't that bad as long you just stay positive about the entire situation! Cheers dude can't wait to see your car rolling

Who laid that weld bead for you? It doesn’t look good at all.

I know doesn’t look good at all.
A Harbor freight welder borrowed from a buddy...it’s a square cross section though so should be fine
But fender and front end fit perfectly so I’m ok with the results
Waiting on the darn radiator w sensor to arrive

....I had one of those harbor freight flux core mig welders years ago.....even if you can get a decent looking weld, the weld itself is weak as hell....full of porosity. I welded some parts on an ATV....and they just snapped in two. I would never trust a HF welder to make any structural welds.

I would be really cautious of that weld.......just saying.

If you have the means, take the car to a body shop and have them lay a good strong bead on that joint. Or even call a mobile welder to come and get it done. Just to be on the safe side

Man some of you guys are negative here. These cars are cheap as dirt these days, it's time to see some fun, questionable, redneck shit happen in backyards. I pulled rear end damage out of my car by attaching it to a tree in my parents front yard a year or so ago. Saved a 200k mile 335 from the junk yard. $3,600 does seem like a lot for this car though are the YouTube rebuild channels driving up auction prices or what?

Yeah....picked up my running, driving, no damage, clean title, 90k mile, 07' 335i that needed a waterpump and themostat for $3,500.

$3,600 for a crashed car with salvaged title is nuts....
