If you wanted to spend less there are a ton of other N54 ICs available. I would avoid the no name stuff as some have really crappy fin packs. Quality ones start around $325 which is why I would suggest just getting one of the two 7.5 'race' ICs and be done with it.

Ummmm, what.. It's at full boost by 3000 rpm. Don't let its appearance fool you, It's a T3 frame still. Holset turbos have a really good reputation in the tuner community. They tend to be very reliable, easily sourced and they are CHEAP. |

I can actually hear that photo haha.
"Gawd Damn Jimmy, this some premium gourmet shid" That intercooler is huge, like, too big. This might sound a little strange, but I was actually concerned about making to much power. I'm not quite ready to break 400whp because that comes at the likely cost of a N54 transmission swap. I'm not sure what you other boosted fellas have considered the danger zone to be yet in regards to transmission rating? |

I guess if you could guesstimate torque numbers — someone in here probably remembers the value that Bob broke when he pushed like 20+ pounds of boost to stress test Alice's (BPCs 325) drivetrain and shredded 4th gear. I know he was well within the 600whp range. I don't think the torque number was too far off from that figure.... maybe mid 500s for wtq. Yeah, with the blower I got some torque — but it's nothing like what you are making with a turbo. I'm certain even the guys with smaller pulleys haven't broken 300wtq. And if they have, I'm sure it's minimally over it

I would never worry about having too large of an IC. The turbo pressurizes the intact track almost immediately. Even on stock twin turbos people have no more lag with those large ICs. https://www.cxracing.com/KIT-N54-E92-IC0047-E9 <--they sell the IC alone. Fab up some brackets and you are all set. Holsets are reliable and cheap. Great turbos. There ares a billion ICs to choose from on the market. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CXRacing-Un...gAAOSwxH1T7FQD BPC used one of these for their IC on the 335D IIRC. Then sold the kit for like $700. A healthy margin. I never liked BPC. They tried to sell a handheld tuner for the n54 for some insane price. Everything they do has a very healthy margin on it. They also make claims like you have to lose the AC with a top mount on the n52 and that they can't make a kit that fits, IIRC. Here the OP made a simple manifold. OP you should make another and sell it. Or consider making a kit. I bet I know someone who would buy it

In a way you answered my question. The small turbos on the 3 liter N54 can develop full boast at much lower RPMs. It's rated for full boost/ torque at 1,500 RPM but I've never tried to log it that low. I loved my N52 and your project look like fun. I'll be watching for your updates. |

Just send it, unless you’re making 500 whp. You’ll have much bigger problems before high AIT’s become an issue with the Cx racing unit. |

This brings me a great deal of pain to type this, but I’m flaking out on my turbo set up. I’ve removed it and installed in about 5 times now, and I just can’t get the car to jive. I don’t have the time or logistics to further pursue this project.
I’m going to be squeezing the trigger on a M240i/ or 340i pretty quick, unsure if I’ll keep my car or not. If anyone’s interested in the kit, or pieces of it. Let me know. |

I honestly just couldn’t get it to where I was going to be happy. Needed some tuning still. My dme needs a firmware update from a Bmw dealer specifically, which they have no interest in doing.
I’ve also taken on a different position at work this year, and I just don’t have the time or space to continue working on a project. I’m working 60+ hours a week for the foreseeable future, It makes more sense for me to sell both my vehicles and get a M240i or M2 to suit my needs. I want to see this all go to a good home though. If anyone is interested on here I’ll let it go on the cheap. The current Exchange rate could save you American bois big bucks. Hit me up. |

I am very interested in this thread as i am planning the same turbo conversion on my E92 UK version. I have someone to design the exhaust manifold in cad and a machinist to carry out the work. Would anyone on this form be interested in the turbo manifolds there selfs? im also planning on making my own exhaust system for this too.
