Fitment for aftermarket 18x9 on 335xi w/ stock suspension

I have been consulting a combination of sources on what will and won't fit on my car, a 2008 335XI with stock suspension, likely to be upgraded at some point in the near future. I'm pretty much decided to go with an 18x9 wheel with a +31 offset (my backup choice is an 18x8.5 with +35 offset.)

Now on the 18x9, I can go with a 255/35R18 or a 245/40R18. I think with the 255/35 setup I might have to add spacers if I upgrade the suspension. I think the 245/40 would have more clearance on the suspension, but also be more likely to require rolling the fenders.

Does anybody have experience with either of these setups and can recommend what to go with?

Thanks

I'm not so sure about running 255 upfront that might be wayyyy too aggressive, I could be wrong but I just bought my wheel set, 19x9 up front on 235/35/19 and 19x10 in the back on 265/30/19

(I'm RWD) but the strut clearances should be the same.

I run 19x9 +35 in the front with 245/45/19 (same O.D just larger wheel dia).

On stock sport suspension I didn't rub and could likely fit a 5 or 7 spacer and not have to worry about it.

Hi there,

On a stock E9X 335i X-drive, you can run a 18x9" ET30/31 at all four corners with a 255/35-18 tire as a complete direct fit. 5mm front spacers are typically only required when running an aftermarket coilover suspension that is known to reduce inner clearance (KW, ST, etc). With either a 245/40-18 or a 255/35-18, you should not need to roll your rear fenders with stock suspension. However, I would lean towards the 255/35-18 as you get some additional grip without needing to modify anything to do so.

If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out!
