I think even with total numbers similar to the ESS supercharger, the torque curve from a turbo would be much more appealing. Even a very small turbo pushing 4-5psi would bring real gains and would probably spool up quickly enough. And from there, a small off the shelf intercooler could be packaged more easily. Saving lots of time and hassle compared to a custom version.

Edit: I just re read your initial post and saw that are thinking of a "low rear" turbo position. I think we may be talking about the same thing.

Just to bring you up to speed.

Cobramarty was banned on this forum for selling milvs after some vendor complained.

Bob is no longer with bpc . He has his own shop now - sfg or something like that.

Yes, I'm bringing this back from the dead. Does anyone hear know how to contact Bob (formerly of BPC) or Cobramarty?

I'm looking for tuning help for a N54/N52 headed engine running a GTX 3582 R turbo. It's taken a while to build this engine. Now that it is reality, I need a way to tune it and run it. Any help from anyone is welcome as tuning is not in my wheelhouse....

That’s a good idea idk why I never thought of that. N54 block with n52 head! You get the strength of the low end from the n54 and bigger cams and valves on the top end from the n52. And not to mention the port injection cleaning the tops of those valves. Lol is there anything we should know when trying this conversion? Everything lines up correctly? Will MIVLS mess with clearance of the pistons or anything? I know quite a lot but have yet to swap in my own engine. Planning a single turbo build for my e90 330i. Already have a n54 trans since my 6mt trans is only rated for 280hp. If you know any tips or tricks to making this work I’d love to hear. This may be what I go with as long as it all works.

CobraMarty, I think I'm going to get addicted to this thread.

May the Force be with you!
So my question is has anyone rebuilt the n52 block with better rods and piston so the crank can actually handle turbo I think it could I haven't seen anyone done that seen people add turbo and keep blowing up the engine what if the block was redone with forge with turbo in mind I think the n52 could handle it but ofc im poor I want see it done then try to do it may self .

Why would you bother putting forged internals into a n52 when you can just get a n54/55 already built to handle boost?

IMO it makes more sense to just get a turnkey motor than go to all that trouble of building a N52. You think you can engineer something better and cheaper than bmw who already engineered a motor for a turbo?

Nice attitude. Great punctuation also.

You think forged N52 internals will be cheap? Just sell the n52 and buy another turbo motor. Will definitely be less out of pocket and way less hassle than building the n52 with forged internals that still won’t handle boost well and will have no AC and tuning nightmare. Good luck to you, hope you get it sorted.

Not sure if someone has already mentioned it but on Facebook there is a N52 Boosted Builds group that I'd recommend you join, quite a few people actively posting in their with updates on their builds and one with a budget build parts list.

N52/N51 turbo kit

Hello my name is Ryan, this is my post on this forum, I own a 2011 328xi n51 with a 6mt. I've been wanting to turbo my car for a very long while now, recently I have come across an n51/n52 turbo kit by a company called Verstarken. They claim to offer a full bolt on turbo kit for a n51 or n52 that includes everything necessary to have a turbocharged n51 for only $3,400. I have attached a link to the website at the end of this post, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this kit? Or if anyone has any input on wether or not this kit would be a good purchase. I have attempted to do research on them however I haven't been able to find much. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you. https://www.verstarkenauto.com/produ...-n51-turbo-kit
