New Interior Trim..Preview

So I want to switch up my interior trim but wasn't sure what to do.Then I remembered seeing some guys on e46 fanatics do something like this and I figured I'd give it a shot. I just did one door piece for now but I think it came out pretty damn good. The pictures don't really do it justice, it looks like a light gray in the pic but its really a charcoal color. What do you guys think?

I'm guessing you wrapped it in suede? It's hard to tell the surface texture in the pic. Open the door and take a pic from outside the car.

Yeah its a microsuede, its very similar to alcantara. I'll take better pics in the daylight, the flash really makes the color look very light. I do have a better pic of the texture.

It's probably look better if you do CF trim and do the lower panels in Alcantara instead.

agreed. It would look better if you do the lower panels in Alcantara

Well its a lease and I dont plan on keeping it, so I don't want the dealer to give me problems when I return the car, although I do agree that it would look good, but it would be hard to do because of the door pockets. If I was keeping the car I would do the headliner and a, b and c pillars.

I dont remember the site I used but if you search for microsuede you will get plenty of results. The more expensive stuff is ultrasuede which is basically the american version of alcantara from what I read.

it'll be interesting to see what your gonna do with the dash trim and the middle where the shift booth is. Espeically the ashtray cover. Good luck with it. The pics arn't that good, but i bet it looks good in person. post more pics up I'll probably do it on my car too. Where did you get the material???

I'm not sure about the color but I must applaud you on your initiative/creativity

Please keep us posted with more pics and insights.

Its real hard to take a picture of it to get the acual color its more of a charcoal color...I'll try to snap pics in daylight to try to capture it better because the flash makes it look way too light.

probably best to take pictures on a sunny day, but it's kind of hard during this time of the year, unless you're down South

Thanks for the 2nd pic. In the first one, I thought it was just a crummy silver paint job.

Like others said, Not sure on the color, but otherwise great idea! for being the first to do this.

I have a picture I found saved of the color sample, this should give a better idea of what it looks like in real life.
