Got my car back at last
After nearly 4 weeks I've collected the TTS, complete with new mirrors, repaired door skins and new locks. I'd forgotten just what a fantastic drive it is and am looking forward to a good blast at the weekend somewhere with the right sort of roads to enjoy it!
I'd also forgotten just how many people look at it in the city traffic and whilst I used to enjoy this, I felt distinctly uncomfortable driving it back to work. Paranoia I guess. I was talking to a neighbour last night and he said there'd been at least one other attempted break in on our small estate and one actual, when a set of BMW 1 series car keys were stolen. The police have said that it appears to be a major crime wave at the minute, spreading out of the city and into affluent areas within a 30 mile radius. The manager of the bodyshop told me that lots of cars were coming in for lock changing and that the TT is one of the top 10 cars to be targeted and the S and RS models even more so. According to Tracker, these were the top 10 stolen/recovered in 2010: 1.BMW X5 2.Land Rover Range Rover 3.BMW M3 4.Audi RS4 5.Audi TT 6.Mercedes Benz SL 7.Mercedes Benz CLK 8.Porsche 911 9.Volkswagen Golf 10.Mercedes Benz ML Subaru Impreza BMW M5 I feel that we have taken a lot of measures to secure our house and the car, but still feel very apprehensive whenever I leave the house unattended. Not a nice feeling to have.

Pleased you got it back Gav, and is a shit testament to today's society that you feel unsafe in the vicinity of your own home.
It also appears that I should be more worries than you however, as my car features at No.3 in your top ten list! (I also have an Impreza in the garage as well, lol) So far (touch wood) the M3 has not been touched. I would be gutted to be in your position right now and I hope you find something that you feel safer parked in your drive. Hope things work out soon Paul |

Really don't know mate. Can't decide on anything. I've always known what cars tick the box for me but struggling at the minute.

Glad you got it back and all sorted with the car. Not a good situation with regards to criminality in your area, it must be awful to feel as though you are constantly under threat of more burglary. Hope the police make some headway getting the scum.
Not surprised you get lots of looks in the TTS, they are just so distinctive and one of the best looking mainstream cars on the road, in my view. I love the interior, one of the nicest places to sit. |

Nice one Gav, glad you have her back now!
You never know, a couple of weeks thinking and a lot of badly tabled deals might mean you get used to the TTS again and decide to keep it. Either way though, I'm sure it will be the best choice when made with time to think. Matt |

Glad you have the car back, I feel lucky we don't appear to suffer from the criminal minority were we live.
Have you enquired about extra car security ? . There must be a way off stopping these wankers. It doesn't help but on one off them police shows it said car theft had halved in recent years. So progress must be being made . |
