Ok then guys I will make a prototype for my car and if all goes well I will copy it a few times.
Will work out about £80 plus postage cots. So sending to you guys probably about £100 all in. Last edited by essex_lad; 11-01-2014 at 02:34 AM.. |

which way will you go with:
- enlarge 325i/328i brake shoes using 335i - modify 335i brake shoes to touch smaller diameter hand brake stop & mount with 335i back plate (welded triangle) - modify e46 m3 shoes to touch smaller diameter hand brake stop & mount with 335i back plate (shaved down e46 shoes) let us know

Someone had a nice centring diagram. Good news is that you can use the cheapest oem compatible shoes, and save some money along the way. The other options prefer a OE BMW part The e46 had the same diameters issue EDIT: What I had in mind http://www.argyrides.eu/bmw/mods/330...ear_brakes.htm http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...+brakes&page=2 http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...=629037&page=2 Older bmws had a movable hand brake lock http://www.zeckhausen.com/e39_bmw_rear_install.htm

well I will use the cheapest I can find for the 325 section of it and then use high performance shoes on the 335 section. just in case a little handbrake is used for drifting lol.

Just follow exactly what evocet has done . The only thing you take off the 325 hand brake is the brake lining. It then in turns gives you the perfect arch to mark out the 185 handbrake shoe to be ground away. Dont do what my welder done (thinking for himself) and ground away half off the lip off the 160 hand brake shoe (part where the lining is mounted) He thought it would make it easier for himself to weld to the 185 hand brake shoe. That lip would rest on parts off the backing plate/dust plate when mounting the handbrake shoe. Hope that makes sense lol.

some real oem search has revealed the following for 128i shoes 34416761291 160mm
Fit the following too http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=34416761291 F22: Details on F22 F22 228i Coupe F22 228iX Coupe F22 M235i Coupe F22 M235iX Coupe And 328i e90 shoes 34416761292 fit here - these should be 160mm but real oem is showing 185mm too.. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=34416761292 Fit 335i and f30 models too. Im confused cuz this was a different result in the past What is left it is check is for a rotor from F3x or F2x that fits 160mm AND the e9x or in my case the odd 1 e8x series Hubs ( hatchbacks refer to e9x hubs) Such as 335i ish spec 34206797598 345X24 - here the e9x would need to push the rotor out by 5mm - rotor is deeper or 135i ish spec 34206797605 312x24 - here the 1 series would need to push caliper 5 mm put - rotor is shallower

I clamped the 160 brake shoe(minus lining) against the 185 shoe and scribed it. Once I had a decent mark(that wouldn't wash out with the heat of cutting), I used a small pneumatic recip saw. This left a very clean and precise cut versus a cut off wheel.
Glad to see this mod is getting used successfully by others!!! |

Since i never had access to a welder , I am still kinda attached to modding the OE BMW e46 m3 shoes to fit over 335i handbrake holding plates. too bad its wideness may be an issue

i still am.
Hopefully we can estimate cost & shipping I assume the buyer covers two sets of OEM equivalent shoes at least? 34416761292 - 335i 185mm size 34416761291 - 325i 165mm small size

I agree. Curious on the cost and what components are used. For example OEM 335i pads are ~$82 from getbmwparts while the centric brand are ~$20 from rockauto. Personally, I'm do not know of a performance benefit of using an OEM part. Thoughts?
