2012 Adaptive Headlight Problem

Posting this for a friend..

Car is a 2012 328i E92 with adaptive headlights.

The left side high or low beams don’t work. DRL’s and turn signal do work. He has moved the headlight to the right side and it works there.

We pulled codes with INPA and got the following related to the problem:

9CFB Komminikation mit StepperMotorBox links gestoert (communication with the leveler mechanism??)

A8AA Abblendlicht links defekt (left low beam defect)

9CBB Kurzschlussfehler (short circuit)

Anybody have any advice on where or how to start look for the apparent short circuit?

Will try that but will resetting the counter do anything since he hasn't found and fixed the short?

If there is a true short, resetting it should momentarily turn on the light.

Sometimes the frm senses a short when a bulb is bad.

Is Tool 32 the best way or only way to reset the short counter? I'm not bad with coding with NCSE or NCSDummy but never used Tool32. I won't be able to get with him until late in the upcoming week so have time to learn

Thanks for the help!

I've used tool32, I don't know if it's the best way to do it, but it does work.

You may want to check the wiring inside the light. The insulation falls off and stuff shorts out in there sometimes.
