DIY REQ: ECU box removal

I am sure I can get as far as removing the ECU itself along with the harnesses/wiring, but are there any specific instructions for removing the actual box? I have a screwdriver below the box that I dropped in there and want to get it out. Thanks!

Hope these pictures help you. (Ignore comments on pictures, as I pulled this from another thread)

Remove all the plastic sections inside the box and look against the firewall side for the 4 Torx screws (part #7)......you'll notice these in one of the pictures below. These seem to be holding the fan unit shroud assembly. Undo these cautiously, as I believe they hold the ventilation cover (shroud) and the fan assembly located through the hole in the firewall, just behind it.

Also looks like there is a Water Outlet Valve (part #2) and a rubber stop buffer (part #3) located at the base of box that is press fit to hold the box down......just pull up on the whole box, to release it.

Goodluck!

Does anyone know if that slot where the USB passes through interferes with the ECU fan? I thought that slot was for some ductwork for that fan

I also dropped a socket extension between the firewall and the E-box. It sounded like it’s sitting just beneath the E-box. Any issues just leaving it since it’s a major hassle to pull everything out?

Did anyone try removing this? Any learnings? I have dropped the top bracket holder on this black hole . Is it as easy as removing those 4 screws and the rubber buffers at the bottom?
