Is that not a bit aggressive? Ive got 19's on my e91- front 8.5 et 38 back 9.5 et 35.
Your wheels narrower but i was told the lowest offset for 9.5 was et27's before you need to think about rolling the arches.

They would go but you'd probably need to fit narrowwr tyres to avoid rubbing on the arches. A slight stretch can look cool if the wheels are split rims or generally wide and the car sits quite low but if not then it may well look poop

I'll let you know cos I have a set of ET40 front and ET27 rear CSL's to go on my car hopefully tomorrow. I had thought the ET40 would maybe have a clearance issue with the strut and have 20mm spacers (so will be ET20) just in case but like you I'm a bit worried they might be too extreme.

I found a post on here where a guy had ET20's on the front with 235's and he claimed it didn't rub the arch. 245's might be pushing it a bit though.

So, is the ET in mm's?
Cant quite get my head around this?

So, if you say the maximum ET for a 9.5 rear wheel on a e91 is ET27, does that mean a wheel with ET 20 is 7mm further away from the wheel arch?(giving more room)?
If so, a 9.0 rear wheel with an ET of 20 is 7mm away from the arch plus the 0.5 of an inch on top of that too???

Someone please help the thicko here!

You are almost correct.. The maximum ET for a 9.5 wheel is indeed 27mm for the pre LCI E90. This means an ET20 wheel will be 7mm closer to the arch. It will fit, but will rub like fuck!.
Ideal size is ET38 front and ET35 rear, plus or minus a few mm's

EDIT
Oh and yeah the wheel will also be another 0.5" closer to the wheel arch, than the oem 9" rim

Do you mean 0.5 inch closer than the 9.5 wheel not the 9.0 wheel?
Also, how will the front be affected?

If you go for an aftermarket wheel that is 9.5 inches wide, it will be 1/2 inch closer to the wheel arch, but the correct offset will even things out.

The standard offset for an oem 9 inch alloy is ET39. Therefore if you fit a 9 inch wheel with an ET20 offset, it will extend an extra 19mm towards the outside edge!

This is a very aggressive offset both front and back. Will probably rub, but you wont know for sure unless you try. Personaly I would go for an offset of over 30mm front and back!

In basic terms the lower the offset the further the rims are from the hub i.e they stick out more. You could run a 235/35/19 tyre but they will be slightly stretched which like I say can look cool if they're split rims of deep dish but on flat faced single piece wheels this can look pretty bobbins. What wheels are they?

i run an 8.5J front with offset of 44 and a 9.5J rear with an offset of 27 (the most aggressive offset you can use on e9x without rubbing) with no issues at all

Think they are called Star spoke 95 style. To be honest, they are an old style wheel from a 5 or 7 series i think.

So im still not 100% sure if they will look good? Its just there is a set for sale close to me for a good price and have near brand new Michelin pilot sport tyres.

Fitted the et27 rears with 275/30 19 tyres and they rub but only when the car hits dips in the road. SO either ditch the 275's or roll the arches.

I'm going to downsize the tyres so if anyone wants some 275/30 19 tyres with 5mm tread then give me a shout. WIll need to see what they are worth and will prob get the full set of 2 x 235 35 19 (7mm tread) and 2 x 275 30 19 up in the for sale secton.

They are Primewell PZ900 M+S tyres. Seem quite impressive but a little noisier than the tyres I had on. I've never heard of them but they seem grippy big things and M+S mean they are rated for mud and snow too! Bonus for me as I wanted winter tyres for them. I'm possibly going for arch rolling as it might be worthwhile.

Struggled to find them online to find out about them, very limited info. SOme rave about them and others slag them off. http://www.primewelltires.com/PZ900
