Changing led halo bulbs easiest way

Hi guys,

I've got some new led bulbs to change my halo rings from yellow to white.

I've watched a few videos on how to change them and it looks easy enough however I don't seem to have the access from the bonnet that some have.

Can I assume the only way I can change them is by removing the alloy and the arch liner? If so then typical as I've just had my wheels refurbed and do not fancy marking them.

It's a 2011 e90 lci

Thanks

It's definitely easyier taking the wheel off but if you turn it full lock ( so the wheel is sticking out away from you )
you can rest a torch on the wheel and there is just enough room to take the panel off.
I managed to do both this way!

I did that today and took the little square plastic bit off but didn't see any wires? More like a heatsink type object? I'll have another proper look when I get time though. I'm not sure it's any different if you have the adaptive Xenons or not.

Wheel off and arch liner out, easiest way for sure. Just make sure the car is properly supported on an axel stand and not just resting on the jack!

Yep definitely wheel off and arch liner out. The arch liner is easy enough to get out, but can be a bit of an arse to get back in. Like me you'll probably struggle a bit with the first one and then when you've worked out the easiest way to get it back in, the second one will only take you minutes. And as has been said support the car properly with axle stands.

and if anyone does have the model with access from the top, it helps to know someone with small hands.

"Darling, can you help me for a minute..."

So I've had another look re access from the bonnet and it seems the only access is this little screw cap type thing which as has been said, needs someone with kids hands.

Would this be the bulb I need to change?

Ok, so it's pretty much impossible to change them via the bonnet. I can get them in but just cannot get them to lock in place and nor can I stuff all the wires and resistor things in.

So if I take the wheel off and liner, will I have better access?

you can do it, i have x-large hands and I did it twice from the top, use your fingers and play there a little (ok, sounds bad but you know what I am talking about Left side was super easy as there is a bit more room, right side was a B... but possible

I did it from top. If you push the wheel arch liner out of the way you can do it (it will flex a bit). That doesn’t look like the right bulb to me by the way.

You can only do LCI from the bonnet.
