Alarm coding help for the dealer.....

So, I went to the dealer to get my alarm coded today. The dealer said the technician indicated the sytem didn't indicate an alarm was installed. Obviously, it is, I installed it. The clown nose blinks and alarm sounds when I stick my arm thru a open window and mess with the door. No chirp and no panic mode, though. What can I tell the dealer to do to make this work on a 2009 BMW 328i sedan? Thanks.

Dealer can't 'code' as we normally do described in this forum...

They will need to add the Alarm Code designation to the VO 1st. Since your car did not have this option originally, that code is not present in the system. Code needs to be in there to tell the car alarm is installed.

In the case of most dealers, this can only be done thru a complete reflash of the car ECU - takes around 3hrs for full flash (as long as everything goes OK).

Did you tell them YOU installed the alarm & car didn't have it orignally?

Cause if you did - since this would not be looked at as a glitch or warranty claim (you installed the alarm afterwards) - they normally they try to charge $300 for this...

Thanks. I don't want to pay 300 dollars just for that.. Can a coder from this forum do it cheaper without going thu the complete re-flash? And if so, any coders anywhere near Davenport, IA?

thanks
